Principal's Note

Hello ABW Families,

We have entered the final month of the 2025-26 school year. May is a busy month, so please check out the Important Dates portion below to confirm the scheduled events. Our MCA testing season is nearly complete. The 8th and 10th graders will be completing their final tests in the area of Science during the first week of the month. Our final Unplugged Day for the year is Wednesday, May 6th. Cell phones should be left in personal vehicles or stay in their lockers for the entire day. We will have some 8th and 10th graders completing their MCA's on the Chromebook that day so students will know if they need to bring a charged Chromebook.

Year End plans have been finalized. Our Semester Tests will be Wednesday, May 20th (Odd Class Periods) and Thursday, May 21st (Even Class Periods). I've pasted the semester test policy below for those 9-12th grade families that may qualify. Notification of students will take place on May 19th in class or via email if students are absent. Locker cleanout is always interesting. Please support your student by reinforcing that they should be bringing materials home prior to the last day. Our Last Day of School is Friday, May 22nd. We will release students officially at 10am. Traditionally we conclude the day with class meetings and begin a staggered release at 9:40am that morning.

Thank you all for your continued support. Roll Cougs!

SEMESTER TEST POLICY: Grades 9 - 12

1. Semester tests will be given the last two days of each semester.

2. The last two days will have four (4) periods of eighty-eight (88) minutes each for taking tests.

3. The test grade will count 20% of the semester grade.

4. The test will cover material for the entire semester.

  1. Review for the semester cannot take more than two (2) class periods.

  2. The student must be on time for the test or risk taking a 0% on the test.

EXEMPTIONS:

A student will be exempt from taking a semester test according to the following schedule. Students with an A average to a C average in a class and have five (5) or less absences, will be exempt from the semester test for that class. Absences for school related activities will not count toward a student’s total. All other absences will qualify towards the total.

Students that have extended absences will be required to complete their Semester Tests (prior to leaving or immediately upon returning). This is to include but not limited to: placements outside of the district, extended vacations, or withdrawal from school followed by re-enrollment.

The only absences that would allow a student to be exempt from a semester test are:

1) school related activities,

2) emergency medical treatment resulting from participation in a school activity, all others will count. This is not punishment but an incentive to attend class every day. NO EXCEPTIONS.

3) *All absences must have prior principal approval.

Note: Family emergency or crisis would be reviewed on an individual basis.
