Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School
Materials Distribution - Round 2
October 4, 2020
Dear B-CC Community Members,
Our next distribution is on Wednesday, October 7th, from 8:30 - 12:00.* [We will close the line at 11:30 on the 7th, as we want students (and teachers who are helping with distribution) to get back to their teaching and learning stations in order to be ready to administer or take the MAP test at 12:30 on this day.
While this is the first opportunity for freshmen to pick up tangible copies of course materials, students in grades 10-12 may also use this day to pick up additional materials in the event of a schedule change or to get materials that they were unable to get during the initial distribution in August. Students in grades 10-12 should not come to this distribution, unless something has changed on their schedules since August and their teacher has informed them they are missing materials. Those upperclassmen who did not pick up the bags we created for them, can do so on these days.
Other Important Points.
1. This distribution is not a drive-thru. Families/students will park and walk up to the building for this distribution. Please be prepared to stand and wait in line. Families may park in the lot in front of the school or in the covered garage.
2. Students/Family members for grades 10-12 will be directed to the ramp (that will be marked with social distancing tape) to walk up to the station in the foyer, where they will state their needs and get their materials. Again, most 10th - 12th grade students should have already gotten their materials.
3. 9th graders will use the stairs to the far left of the front of the building, along the F-Wing side (that will be marked with social distancing tape) to walk to the foyer, where we will get their materials.
4. We will have a drop-off station at the bottom of the stairs for “returns only,” and students will not need to wait in the other lines if no new materials are needed. Please make sure that all items to return are individually marked (with the student’s name and ID#), as students will receive obligations if they do not return materials checked out to them.
5. Please know what you or your student needs to pick up. Though we have lists of the materials each class is using, it helps if you or your child has an idea of what they should be getting.
6. Students or adults may not pick up materials for other students.
In addition to the books that students are either missing or need to exchange, those that have been told they need music, art, yoga or math materials should come to the distribution. If a yearbook was ordered last year and not picked up, they will be available on these days. Those still in need of a chromebook or who need to exchange one should also plan to attend.
Locker Items: There are still a significant number of bags that we cleared from the gym lockers and other lockers in the building. All unclaimed locker bags will be placed on tables on the sidewalk near the underground parking garage. Families and students can approach these tables freely to locate their items. After this distribution, all remaining locker bags will be discarded.
Returns (Only): Look for a table at the bottom of the main stairs. You may leave returns, properly marked with the student’s name and ID number, on the table. A staff member will be at this table, checking in items as we receive them. Remember, all materials were checked out to you, so please return them, marked with your name. The number on the items will need to match the number we recorded when we distributed the materials to you.
If you are not able to make either of these scheduled days, we will follow up with individual families to make arrangements to come to the school on alternate dates. However, please note that there are limited windows of time in which school staff is available to be on hand to provide materials for you outside.
Specific questions about this process can be directed to your child's grade level administrator.
