News from Mr. Stanislao, Principal
Dear Roy School Families,
Attendance is EXTREMELY important to students' academic and social and emotional growth and achievement. Last year, our goal was 95% and WE MET OUR GOAL!!
Our attendance protocols are the following:
Once a student hits 3 absences - Letter mailed home
Once a student hits 6 absences - Face to face meeting / attendance contract
Once a student hits 10 absences - Home visit / attendance contract revisit/revision
Once a student hits 12 absences - Incorporate Mannheim District 83 Administration supports
We are continuing our classroom/school wide attendance incentive program for classes that achieve 95% average weekly attendance. Guidelines outlined below.
1st incentive: 5 Bull Bucks for each student
2nd incentive: 15 minutes of extra recess
3rd incentive: 2 out-of-uniform days for the entire class the following week (Monday & Friday)
Once classes reach the 3rd incentive during the year, they will start over with the 1st incentive
**A special surprise reward will be given each quarter to the grade level(s) with the highest attendance percentage!**
Thank you for your continued support in ensuring your student(s) "STRIVE FOR 95", be here each day because that’s the Roy School way!
***VERY IMPORTANT***
EXCESSIVE EXCUSED/UNEXCUSED ABSENCES (SICKNESS, VACATIONS, TRUANCY) COUNT AGAINST ROY SCHOOL AND CAN AFFECT OUR ROY SCHOOL REPORT CARD RATING.
STUDENTS THAT ARE TAKEN OUT OF SCHOOL FOR VACATIONS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR WILL NOT BE APPROVED AND WILL COUNT AS A UNEXCUSED ABSENCE.
ALL ABSENCES, EXCUSED/UNEXCUSED ALL GO TOGETHER.
STUDENTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED MORE THAN 9 ABSENCES (5% OF SCHOOL YEAR).
Sincerely,
Joe Stanislao

News from Ms. Polster, Assistant Principal
Dear Roy Families,
Students had a great time at our first all-school assembly with Benny the Bull! The assembly had a fun game show format, with lots of opportunities for students to participate. Students learned more about how to earn Bull Bucks by being safe, respectful, and responsible along with all the fun ways they can use the Bull Bucks they earn. It was a great way to come together as a school and celebrate our positive behavior expectations.
Sincerely,
Tina Polster

2026 Roy Secretaries News
UPDATE - 10/9/26
Hello and Welcome Roy Parents!
At Roy School, the safety of our students and effective communication with families are top priorities. We kindly remind all parents and guardians that all school-related business should be directed through our main office team. The main office is located at door #1.
This includes general questions, reporting student absences, arranging early dismissals or late arrivals, updating contact information, registration and residency requirements, sharing health or medical information, dropping off forgotten items, and scheduling appointments with teachers, staff, or administration.
Student Safety Reminder: For the safety and security of all students, parents, guardians, and authorized individuals picking up a student must present a valid photo ID when requested by our office staff. This important procedure allows us to verify identities and ensure students are released only to authorized individuals. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in following these safety protocols.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized school environment. Our main office team looks forward to continuing to support and work alongside all Roy School families!
Kindly,
Mrs. Rodriguez and Mrs. Ayala

We hope you are doing well! This is a friendly reminder that, according to Illinois state requirements, all kindergarten and newly enrolled students must have a current physical examination and required vaccine form on file.
Please ensure that your child’s updated physical form is submitted to us by October 15, 2026 as this information must be reported to the state.
If you need assistance obtaining a school physical, District 83 partners with Greater Family Health in Franklin Park to help provide families with access to physical examinations.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you all for your cooperation and amazing support to keeping our community healthy.
All 2026-2027 Immunization requirements are due prior to October 15, 2026 deadline. Please use the links below to access this information.

2026 Traffic Reminder
Parents and guardians, when dropping off in the morning and or picking up in the afternoon, parking is available on Lyndale, Dewey, and Palmer.
Please remember to follow all of the posted traffic signs as well as the directives from our D83 Crossing Guards. This includes not parking or dropping off in any crosswalks and dropping off and or picking up in the NO DROP OFF ZONE located on the southeast corner of Roy and Lyndale. These are two very important safety concerns that can lead to dangerous situations for our students and other pedestrians. Thank you for being safe and helping make arrival and dismissal successful for everyone.
Roy Avenue in between Palmer, Dewey, and Lyndale is closed during arrival and dismissal. No car traffic. Parking is available again on Palmer, Dewey, and Lyndale.
2026 Pet Reminder
Just a quick reminder. Pets of any kind are not permitted on school grounds during arrival and dismissal, which includes dogs and cats of any size. This is to protect the animal owner from any occurrences or issues. If you are walking your dog with your student during arrival and dismissal, you must stand on the west side of the sidewalk on Roy Avenue, north side of the sidewalk on Lyndale, and the south side of the side walk on Palmer. Thank you!
