Dear Rocket Families,
I hope you all have enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend! As our weather begins to change please make sure your child dresses in layers to account for our cooler mornings and warm afternoons.
As we begin week 5 of the year, please see some important items to note below:
- Progress Reports were sent home last week for your child. We are focusing a great deal on attendance this year. Please remember that EVERY MINUTE counts at RES and your child needs to be PRESENT for INSTRUCTION!!!! If you have any questions regarding your child's report please contact their teacher.
- PLEASE help us with our 50/50 Fundraiser! We have about 1/4 of the school selling tickets at this time. Our goal is for every student to sell 5 or for every family with more than 1 student to sell a 10!!!!
- Fall Picture Day will be next Tuesday, September 17. Information will be sent home later this week.
This week, we’ll begin teaching the Second Step program, which includes lessons that support behaviors and skills for learning: listening, focusing attention, using self-talk to stay on-task, and being assertive when asking for help with a learning task. In our morning announcements and classroom morning meetings we’ll be reminding students of these skills, which help students be successful learners. Please tell your child’s teacher if you’d like more suggestions about supporting skills for learning at home.
We all work hard to be the best learners we can be. One skill for learning is to listen with attention. When we listen with attention, our eyes are watching the speaker, our ears are listening, our voices are quiet, and we’re still. During this week's lesson our scholars will practice being great listeners every day!
