Our region received moderate to heavy rain from the storm; however, there was no damage to any of our schools. We had multiple crews out at our schools over the weekend to monitor the impact of the tropical storm and clear out storm drains. I was able to visit more than ten schools today to verify their condition. Other than some water puddles and storm water runoff, our facilities are in good condition.
If your family has been affected by this weather event, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school teams for assistance. We are fortunate to have administrators, counselors, liaisons, and social workers available to support our families as we get back to school tomorrow morning. We also have partnerships in place to connect families to agencies for support with food, supplies, and other basic needs.
Based on the weather reports, the storm is anticipated to weaken by 10:00 p.m. this evening. If the storm intensifies, we will send out a follow-up communication.
Please take extra caution when you make your way to school tomorrow morning because the streets and sidewalks will most likely be wet.
