Dear Families,

It has been wonderful to be home and begin to settle back into school. So many lovely welcomes!

Surprise Valentines: The collection of handmade Valentines was spectacular and the exchange was very sweet to witness as always.

Snow day: If you did not receive a message from ASCD via phone or text about the school closure, please reach out to Samantha.

4/5 chorus and band concert - Wednesday, 2/19, 2:00: I hope you can join us for this concert. The students will be performing pieces they played in last week's combined elementary concert held at the Salisbury Community School. The quality of their performance is truly impressive. And thank you to Sarah Metcalf: this cycle of concerts represents a Herculean effort on her part.

Lunch volunteers: We need sign-ups next week for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If you can volunteer for one of these days, please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or sign up directly on the calendar. Please sign-up for March dates as well. Your signing up ahead of time is really helpful.

Have a good weekend!

Community Feedback needed!

Parents, Caregivers, Students, Staff & Community, we want to hear from you! In the Spring of 2024, ACSD began a two year process toward joint accreditation by NEASC and IB (read more here). We are currently in the self-study and evidence gathering phase and we want to hear from you! Please take 10 minutes to fill out this NEASC Learning Community Survey to help inform how we are doing in key areas and where we need to focus and improve in the future.

School Board Appreciation Month!

We want to thank our thirteen ACSD School Board members for the time, collaboration, and deep investment they make to ensure a brighter future for our students, our district, and our community. We want to send a special appreciation to Chip Malcom and Joanna Doria who are leaving the Board this year. Chip has served on the ACSD board since unification in 2016 and previously served on the UD3 Board from 1985-2000, including 6 years as chair. Joanna has served on the ACSD Board since 2022. School board members are elected officials who live in one of our district towns and represent all members of the ACSD community. School board elections are held each Town Meeting day with a rotating number of our thirteen seats up each year. Learn more about the board: www.acsdvt.org/school-board/

Preschool & Kindergarten Enrollment!

  • Do you have a 3-5 year old ready for preschool? Every preschool age child in ACSD is eligible for 10 FREE hours of preschool at a pre-qualified preschool program and NOW* is the time to begin thinking ahead to the 2025-26 school year. Visit https://mbaker61.wixsite.com/uprek/partners for a list of preschools and more information. Reach out to Ashley Bessette, Universal Prek Coordinator, at abessette@acsdvt.org for support or to ask questions.
*Most preschool programs will begin enrolling in February/March for the 2025-26 school year.

  • ACSD Public Preschool's interest survey will be available in early March.

Do you have a child who plans to start Kindergarten in 2025-2026? Make sure they are on our incoming student list! If your child will be 5 years old by September 1, 2025 (or you know a friend or neighbor whose child will be) please reach out to Weybridge School at 802-545-3302 or sfarrellschmitt@acsdvt.org

Here is a guide for students to know what clothing choices to make. We will be using this guide to teach students about weather and being prepared to go outside for recess each day.
