I hope you are well, and that your student and family are beginning to adjust to the new school year.
This year the district is working to increase our resources across all our schools through a new student services model. To read the entire Student Services update from our Director of Student Services, Meg Verlicco, please click here. A few of the important updates include:
- A new Student Services model which aligns all tiers of intervention by incorporating counseling services, nursing and wellness, and Special Education.
- The addition of a Special Education building based support in the form of Special Education Department Heads at the High School and Middle School and Assistant Principals at the majority of our primary schools as well as the Johnson Early Childhood Center.
- Increased direct service staff across departments, including additional allocations for Physical Therapists, Orientation and Mobility, full time Speech and Language Pathologist, and increased allocations for School Psychologists and Team Chairs.
- Expanded counseling services to support the social-emotional wellbeing of all of our students.

A great way to help with the back to school transition is to participate in one of the many upcoming open houses, or a parent council meeting. These events can be found in your student's weekly school newsletter, and a few upcoming important meetings include:
Weymouth High School Parent Council on Wednesday, September 21st at 7pm in the WHS Library. Please enter through Door #36, the Security Entrance on the Gold Side of the building. Click on this LINK to view the Agenda.
Chapman Middle School is looking for representatives for the to join the School Council at MWC. The school council meets monthly with Principal Meehan to discuss climate, school improvement and budget information. Interested Parents/Guardians can email Janet.Rogerson@weymouthps.org
