Principal Message Principal Message

Next week brings us to the end of September and with that we have Orange Shirt Day on Monday. Tuesday there is no school as it is the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

This past week has been full of firsts. Our first day of JK. Our first of Drax's monthly hot lunch donations, our first School Council Meeting, our first Lockdown Drill and our First Picnic in the Gym. All of these things help to build our school culture into the community it is. Look below for write ups on our JK first day and the School Council meeting.

I know that there is anxiety as to what is happening with regards to potential job action. Teachers will be voting this weekend on a proposed deal, and the results of that vote will be released next week. As new information becomes available we will make sure families are informed.

As always if you have questions or concerns please reach out!

Sincerely,

Alan Stoyles

Principal

A Message from JK teacher Miss Y A Message from JK teacher Miss Y

What a WONDERFUL start!!

On Tuesday we had a wonderful first day! We met each other, learned our favorite colors, toured the school, met some friends, made new friends, and did our first day of JK handprints for our Art Portfolio!

On Thursday we followed what will be our regular routine! Starting with a morning story, carpet and calendar time with our fellow K/1 class... we joined K/1s for Gym and Recess!!
We played, looked at books and learned about the letter A, number 1 and Shapes!!
We finger painted and traced, A, 1 and many shapes!

We look forward to next week!

REMINDER: NO SCHOOL on Tuesday September 30th. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

There was so much fun and learning this week we forgot to take pictures!

Spotlight on School Success: Elk Island Math Screens Spotlight on School Success: Elk Island Math Screens

You may have heard your students talk about a math test they have written. Students have recently wrote the Elk Island Math Assessment in all classes. This is our second year doing this assessment across our school. You might ask, "Why Elk Island?", Elk Island Catholic School Division created this assessment and we license the use from their school division. It provides an excellent way to see areas that students need assistance in based on the previous years curriculum. This helps our teacher to plan for specific areas where groups or individuals need support in being the best math students they can be. Excellence in Math is an area of focus for Wildwood School and will help set up students for long term success.
