Happy Friday afternoon!

Our first full week of 2nd grade was a success! We learned how to use our fact fluency to help us solve math problems, investigated the physical properties of different materials, and continued to practice good citizenship. We are so excited to continue to learn and grow next week!

Enjoy your weekend!

Phonics practice can be found in the clear sheet protector in their folder every week. Along with weekly Phonics practice, have your child read something of their choice for 20 minutes a night or 100 minutes for the week.

Please be sure to bring a labeled water bottle and healthy snack daily.

Our classrooms can get cold. Please have your student bring a light jacket, even if it is hot outside.

Your student is now expected to type in their own username and password to log in to their chromebook. Log in to Skyward to find their username and password and help them memorize it at home!

Ice Cream at Lunch Ice Cream at Lunch

Students can buy ice cream at lunch. They will need to know their student ID and have money in their account to buy ice cream. If you would like to allow your child to buy ice cream, please send them with a completed pink permission form on the day you would like them to buy it. The permission form can be found in their purple folder.

If at any point you need more forms, please contact your child's teacher.

Behavior Communication Chart Behavior Communication Chart

To document behavior second grade uses the Windsong Strong Conduct chart. This will be kept in your child's purple take home folder for the entire 9 weeks and they will be given a new one each 9 weeks. Please be sure to take a look at this daily and discuss any comments with your child. Please help your child to be responsible for bringing this to and from school each day.

At the top, you will see a calendar for the 1st 9 weeks. In this calendar we will fill out if a redirection was needed with an R - this is just to let you know that there were warnings given to get behavior back on track. If there is a C in the calendar your child's teacher had to give multiple warnings or a more severe behavior occurred. If you see a C, there will be comments explaining this behavior below - this is when a signature is required by parents. If nothing is written this means your child is demonstrating Windsong Strong behavior and setting a good example. You will also notice the Report Card Citizenship Grade codes at the bottom. This conduct chart will directly reflect the grade they receive on their report card.

Emergency Contacts Emergency Contacts

Please add emergency contacts to your Skyward profile for any neighbors/friends/extended family that could possibly ever pick up your students. You can add up to 4. These are required for pickup so add them as soon as possible!
