Week Twenty-four Notes
As we move further into March, our students continue to impress us with their hard work, curiosity, and kindness each day. Classrooms are buzzing with meaningful learning as students build new skills, collaborate with classmates, and challenge themselves to grow. This time of year often brings a renewed energy as we look ahead to spring, and it has been wonderful to see students staying focused and engaged in their learning. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your children at home and helping reinforce the importance of effort, responsibility, and a positive attitude toward school. We truly appreciate the strong home–school connection that helps make our elementary community such a special place for students to learn and thrive.
With Viking Pride,

Note from Mr. Briggs
I cannot believe we are going into our last trimester! Our school year is flying by. For the remainder of the school year, our Viking Value will be “Wise Choices.” Students will focus on making thoughtful decisions each day. We will encourage everyone to pause and consider the impact of their actions before making choices. Additionally, our staff will continue to highlight examples of respect and ownership, our first two Viking Values.
Looking ahead, we will continue to reward our PBIS winners weekly, but also celebrate winners monthly who make wise choices during each month of school.
Our school continues to focus on behavior on the playground with keeping hands-to-self during play. We have seen steady numbers in office referrals for physical contact. Our staff will continue to teach and re-teach expectations both in the classroom and on the playground.
Go Vikings!

Caring for Ourselves and Each Other as We Look Ahead to Spring
February can feel like a long stretch of winter—short days, cold weather, and fewer chances to be outside. During this time of year, it’s especially important to focus on self-care, connection, and overall wellness for our students, families, and staff.
Winter can affect our energy, mood, and motivation. Encouraging simple self-care routines can make a big difference:
- Keep consistent routines for sleep, meals, and school days
- Move your body when possible—stretching, dancing, or indoor play all count
- Take breaks from screens and make time for creative or calming activities
- Talk about feelings and name emotions, even the tricky ones
As February moves forward, we can begin to hope for spring ahead—longer days, warmer weather, and new beginnings. Talking with students about upcoming changes helps build optimism and resilience. Even small things like noticing daylight lasting longer or planning future activities can help boost mood and motivation.
February is a great reminder to lead with kindness and compassion. Children are still learning how to manage emotions, solve problems, and communicate needs. When challenges arise, we encourage our school community to expect good intentions, offer grace, and work together to support growth. By caring for ourselves and showing empathy toward others, we create a school environment where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.
Please reach out if you are in need of additional support.

It is still very important to complete the free and reduced application forms in your back to school paperwork, regardless of your qualification status. This application process is essential for the district as it helps secure vital funding from the state and federal sources. Regardless of your income, please fill out this application. Thank you for your help with this matter!
