Attendance Matters

Lincoln Families,

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we want to take a moment to recognize the importance of consistent school attendance. Every day matters! When students attend school regularly, they build strong learning habits, stay connected with their peers, and are more likely to succeed both academically and socially.

At Lincoln Middle School, we are committed to supporting our students and families in building positive routines that help students arrive on time and ready to learn each day. Together, we can make sure our Lions have the best opportunity to grow, achieve, and thrive.

Thank you for your partnership in making attendance a priority—because when students are here, they shine!

Phoebe Pryor, Teachers

Place of Birth: Saint Paul, Minnesota

Years at Lincoln: 1st Year!

Favorite Educator: My favorite educator is Ms. Means, the mentor teacher I was placed with during my student teaching year.

Ms. Means is the clearest picture of what I want to be when I grow up that I have ever seen. On top of being incredibly kind, supportive, and full of so much scientific knowledge, she was also always willing to humor extra experiments that weren't in the lab instructions or unconventional review games, and her door was always open. She was incredibly involved in the school community outside the classroom, and it was through her that I learned I not only love teaching middle school, but I also love to coach!

Fun Fact:I used to be an aerial performer in the circus!

Culturally Responsive Teaching

We’re proud to recognize Mr. Kornell, Mr. Rowe, and Mrs. Haendel for the ways they are using restorative circles in their classrooms. Restorative circles are a powerful culturally responsive teaching strategy because they honor student voice, encourage active listening, and create space for every learner’s experiences and perspectives to be valued.

By building community through circles, our teachers are helping students feel a greater sense of curiosity, empowerment, and belonging—all central to our schoolwide focus on culturally responsive teaching.

We are grateful to our teachers for leading this important work and modeling strategies that strengthen both relationships and learning at Lincoln.
