It's a Great Week to be a Cavalier!

Happy Sunday Cavalier Families!

As we enter April, we are focusing on two important themes: perseverance and resiliency—both of which are essential as our students prepare for STAAR testing starting next week. Testing can be a stressful time, but with the right mindset and support, our students can rise to the challenge with confidence.

Resiliency is about bouncing back from setbacks and staying determined, even when things get tough. We encourage you to remind your child that their hard work matters, and that effort and persistence lead to growth. A positive attitude, good study habits, and plenty of rest will help them do their best every day.

Here are a few ways you can support your child as they review this week and test over the next 3 weeks:
✅ Encourage regular study and review time.
✅ Ensure they get a good night’s sleep before testing days.
✅ Provide a nutritious breakfast to fuel their focus.
✅ Remind them to take deep breaths and do their best.

We appreciate your partnership in helping our students develop the confidence and resilience they need to succeed—not just on STAAR but in all aspects of life.

Last week, we shared a newsletter with important safety information. You will be able to access that information here for the remainder of the year: https://secure.smore.com/n/m9axj.

One item that has been added since the safety information went out pertains to cups and water bottles. Students are able to bring them to school, but they must be empty and open upon arrival. We have bottle filling stations in each hallway that students may use to get water. Students are also able to bring factory sealed drinks with them as well. Students with liquid or ice in their cups will be required to empty them prior to entering the building.

We greatly appreciate the support of our Cavalier families! If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are looking forward to a Cav-tastic week with your students!

Counselors' Corner Counselors' Corner

April is Stress Awareness Month, a time to recognize the impact that stress has on our lives and take steps to manage it effectively. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the demands of school, family, and other responsibilities. However, ignoring stress can lead to a variety of mental and physical health problems.

Purpose

  • Raise Awareness – Educate people about the impact of stress on mental and physical health.

  • Promote Healthy Coping Strategies – Encourage individuals to adopt effective stress management techniques.

  • Reduce Stigma – Help people feel more comfortable discussing stress and seeking support.

  • Encourage Workplace & Community Support – Highlight the importance of stress-reducing initiatives in workplaces and communities.

  • Empower Individuals – Provide tools and resources to help people take control of their stress levels.

Ways to Reduce Stress

  • Practice Mindfulness & Meditation – Engage in deep breathing exercises, meditation, or yoga to stay present and relaxed.

  • Exercise Regularly – Physical activity helps release endorphins, reducing stress and improving mood.

  • Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle – Eat a balanced diet, stay hydrated, and get enough sleep to support overall well-being.

  • Set Boundaries & Manage Time – Avoid overcommitting and prioritize self-care to reduce overwhelming situations.

  • Connect with Others – Talk to friends, family, or professionals for emotional support and stress relief.
