Douglas County Says YES to 5A!

Thank you Douglas County voters for saying yes to ballot initiative 5A! This means our teachers and staff will receive salary increases that will make their pay more competitive with surrounding school districts. In addition, DCSD will be able to enhance security staffing in our schools. The passage of 5A is a HUGE celebration for our district, our staff, and our students! The support that we have seen from our community has been amazing, especially considering the tax environment we were contending with. One thing is clear - our community is behind our schools and our staff and we are incredibly grateful.

One Book One District

This week marks DCSD's 3rd annual One Book One District literacy program, hosted by the District Library and Media Center. Schools and the school district are participating in a variety of events centered around the book Becoming a Good Creature by author Sy Montgomery, including a virtual meet and greet with the author this Wednesday, November 15, from 9:30 am - 10:00 am. In addition, schools are still collecting items for the One Book One District toiletry drive for SECOR Cares. The schools with the most donations will earn $500 in books for their library!

Last weekend, DCSD hosted the first-ever One Book One District Community Kickoff Event and it was a huge success. Many families joined the event to visit with therapy dogs, chickens from Sedalia Elementary, and booths from participating vendors and partners. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible!
