Teachers, just a heads up the district is conducting an audit on some of our equipment. On October 21 a district employee (who will likely be accompanied by Ms. Zapata) will be in and out of rooms around the building looking at county equipment. Just wanted you to know in case they come into your room. There is nothing you need to do at this time.

It is that time of year where parents are asking for teachers input for testing or private school admissions. Please see the attached Eval Procedure, biggest thing to remember is forward all requests to Ms. Mason and I will start the process.

  • Amphitheater, Media Center Space Reservation Reminder: Please email me if/when you would like to make a reservation to use the Amphitheater, the Media Center classroom space, or the Media Center Small Group Rooms. This needs to be done BEFORE you submit your event forms to the front office to be sure those spaces are actually available on the needed days. The front office forms do NOT reserve the spaces with me.

Parent/Student Payments Parent/Student Payments

For any payments - OSP is the preferred method of payment for the District and CMS.

If you receive a cash or check payment – you must complete these steps the SAME day you receive the payment:

  • Fill out the (green) Internal Deposit Slip Form (E7). Blank Forms and an Example are Hanging outside Bookkeeper’s office (Room 115), Room 117 and Room 112.
    • Use Blank or standard Blue ink only.
    • One form per student. If you have payments for two students, you will fill out two forms.
    • Please do not remove the examples, please leave them at their location.
    • If you include the parent’s email address Bookkeeper will send them a receipt of payment and copy you. If not, Bookkeeper will send a receipt to your email, and you can share with the parent.
  • Hand the green Deposit Slip Form and money to the Bookkeeper (do not leave in Bookkeeper mailbox or in office).
  • If Bookeeper is not available – place the green Deposit Slip Form and money in an envelope and place it in the drop safe located in Room 112. Email the Bookkeeper after placing a deposit into the safe.

This process also applies to money received for fundraisers. You must turn money in at the end of each day of fundraising and complete the green Deposit Slip Form.

In this week's staff spotlight we are featuring Debbi Michael, our outstanding Data Clerk, whose dedication, and focus keep our school running smoothly behind the scenes. Debbi’s attention to detail ensures that our records are accurate and up to date, supporting both staff and students with efficiency and care. Her warm personality and collaborative spirit make her a joy to work with and a valued member of our team. We are grateful for all that Debbi does at CMS!

Student Success Skills Student Success Skills

10/20-10/24

This week in SSS, we’re focusing on Friendships— the ongoing reciprocal liking and behavioral involvement between two or more people. Friendships fulfill the essential human need to be seen, heard, and valued. Friendship is an extension of broader "Relationship Skills” including clear communication, active listening, cooperation, and constructive conflict resolution. Making and maintaining friendships requires developing and practicing these social skills. These skills enable individuals to connect with others, navigate social interactions, and deepen their relationships over time.

Our lessons this week will help students build, practice, and strengthen the skills needed to form healthy, meaningful friendships. These relationships, in turn, foster a sense of belonging—an essential foundation that students need to thrive in school and community.

Reminders/Repeat Information Below: Reminders/Repeat Information Below:

Change in Work Hours

With the change to a 4:05pm dismissal and the late arrival of our buses, we are altering the staff work hours. You must be in your classroom or at your post by 8:25am each day. The work hours are 8:25am-4:25pm. Note: this does not mean walking in the door at 8:25pm. If we call buses at 4:20pm, you do not need to wait until 4:25pm to leave. We know how hard you are working. Hopefully there will be very few days we call for buses after 4:25pm, but as always, we do have to stay to keep the kids safe in these instances.

Head Coverings: Students are not allowed to wear any head coverings during the school day (classroom or common-area). Please be tactful when you remind them of this expectation.

Morning Help Sessions Process:

  • If your help session begins before 8:25am, please meet your students at the front doors and escort them to your classroom.
  • Teachers will write your name on the whiteboard in the atrium. Administrators present will allow students to go if the teacher’s name is on the whiteboard (or if you give the student a pass).
    1. Students arriving 8:25–8:30 may go to your room if your name is listed on the whiteboard.
    2. Students arriving after 8:30 must have a physical pass.
  • Dismiss students in time for first period.

Minors and Subs

Please issue at minimum a minor referral to any student whose name is left by a substitute for poor behavior. Likewise, I encourage you to give PBIS points for any students or classes who do great for a sub. Please add something about this to your sub plans so they will know to leave names if needed. Also, please prepare your students for this and encourage them to be helpful and supportive while you are out.

Canvas Canvas

Canvas Information:

  • Need Help With Canvas? Fill out This Form, and Becky or Emily will be in touch with a solution or meeting time.
    • If you need a new sandbox or someone added to an existing sandbox, please fill out the form with the sandbox URL and the email addresses of the individuals you want to add.
    • If you have a club or team that you want a course for, please fill out the form.
  • All grades MUST go in Canvas; no grades or assignments should be entered directly into Infinite Campus.
  • Some great tips:
    • Turn on Nightly Sync:
    • Having Sync issues? Try a remaster!

Grading Grading

  • PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THIS GRADING TIMELINE: Grading One Pager - CMS 2025-2026.docx
