Dear Parents,

December 19th-January 6th

Dear Parents,

We wanted to share with you an exciting and thought-provoking lesson that your child participated in recently. In class, students learned about artificial intelligence (AI)—what it is, how it works, and its various uses in our everyday lives. Through discussions, videos, and activities, we explored both the pros and cons of AI, helping students understand its impact on society and their future.

The Pros of AI
Students learned about how AI is being used to improve many areas, such as:

  • Healthcare: AI helps doctors diagnose illnesses more accurately and create personalized treatments.
  • Education: AI can offer tailored learning experiences, making lessons more interactive and engaging.
  • Safety: AI systems are used in self-driving cars and smart home devices to increase safety and convenience.

The Cons of AI
While AI has many benefits, we also discussed some of its challenges, including:

  • Job displacement: As AI takes over some tasks, it can lead to fewer jobs for humans in certain industries.
  • Bias and fairness: Sometimes AI systems can reflect biases from the data they are trained on, leading to unfair outcomes.
  • Privacy concerns: AI technology can raise questions about how personal information is used and protected.

By examining these pros and cons, students had the opportunity to think critically about technology and its role in our lives. We encouraged them to ask questions, express their thoughts, and consider both the positive and negative aspects of innovation. We hope that this discussion sparks further conversations at home about how technology is shaping the world.

Thank you for your continued support as we help students navigate the complexities of the digital age.

Amazing

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well! At Sunset Elementary, we are always looking for meaningful ways to connect classroom learning to the real world. With that in mind, I would invite you to participate in an exciting opportunity to inspire our students.

We are inviting parents to visit our classroom and share insights about their careers. This is a wonderful chance for students to learn about the variety of professions that exist, the rewards of pursuing a passion, and the challenges that come with different occupations.

Here’s what we’re asking for:

• A brief presentation (10–15 minutes) about your career, including the daily responsibilities, education/training required, and skills that are important for success.

• Insight into the rewards and challenges you experience in your job.

• Time for a short Q&A session where students can ask questions.

Our goal is to give students an understanding of the many paths they can take in the future while highlighting the importance of education and hard work.

If you are interested in participating, please email me at jkrubeck@park6.org and we will find a time that works for you.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to enrich our students’ learning. Your stories and experiences could be the spark that ignites a student’s future career!
