Principal's Message

Dear Sycamore Families,

Happy New Year! I hope that you and your loved ones enjoyed a restful holiday break and are ready to embark on an exciting second half of the school year. It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you back to Sycamore as we continue to foster a positive, engaging, and enriching learning environment for all of our students.

We are looking forward to a number of exciting events and activities in the coming months. Our PTA will be hosting several events, and we encourage all families to participate. We will also offer parent workshops that are designed to provide valuable information and support for families to help students succeed. In addition, there will be school-wide celebrations to recognize the hard work and achievements of our students, staff, and community.

I am proud to share that our school was recently honored with the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Distinguished Award. We were recognized for our continued efforts to create a positive school culture that encourages students to demonstrate excellent behavior, academic success, and social responsibility. This honor was celebrated at the December Board meeting, and it reflects the hard work of our entire school community—students, staff, and families alike.

As we move forward into the second half of the school year, we remain focused on three key areas: delivering quality instruction, maintaining excellent attendance, and promoting positive behavior in every student. These areas are vital to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed and thrive at school.

We are so grateful for your continued support and partnership, and we look forward to all the wonderful things the rest of this year will bring.

Your proud principal,

Dr. Kelly Scarborough

Our last Fire Drill was successfully completed on December 2, 2025. During each drill, we block an exit path so that our students and staff have practice with finding alternative exits. The students and staff have done very well with thinking on their feet to exit the building quickly and safely. On December 11, 2025, our staff first responders completed the first Emergency Action Plan Drill of the school year. This requirement stems from House Bill 874 which states schools must conduct a minimum of 2 emergency action plan drills each year incorporating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The second drill is scheduled during the semester.

iReady

i-Ready helps teachers better understand each student’s individual learning needs in mathematics and reading. This information is essential for tailoring instruction and supporting growth throughout the year. You can support your child by talking with them about the importance of doing their best and approaching the assessment with focus and effort. Family engagement plays a powerful role in student success.
