Managing Seasonal Allergies
As the seasons change, so do pollen counts! With spring in full swing, many students may begin to experience seasonal allergy symptoms. I’d like to share a few helpful tips to keep students comfortable and healthy:
Stay hydrated – Drinking plenty of water helps thin mucus and ease congestion.
Wash up after outdoor play – Encourage students to wash their hands and face to remove pollen.
Avoid rubbing eyes – Instead, use a clean, cool, wet compress to relieve itching.
Wear an extra layer – When weather allows, a jacket or outer layer can help keep pollen off clothing.
Manage asthma carefully – Allergies can trigger asthma symptoms. Please ensure your student follows their asthma care plan and has access to their rescue inhaler, especially during field trips.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s allergy or asthma management, feel free to reach out to jnovack@mesd.k12.or.us.
