Communication

Day 1: Upon arriving into the building on day one, students will report directly to their assigned homeroom. Many staff members will be located throughout the building to assist them. We are here to help, and your child is sure to feel welcomed!

A/B Day: Our schedule will operate on a A/B Day rotation. This only impacts elective classes and PE for your child. We will communicate the letter day daily on our marguee, our website, and on our interval announcements.

Weekly Message: Each month you will receive a link to the "Principal's Message" via email. The Principal's Message will be sent out weekly for the month of September due to the volume of information and sent monthly thereafter. Please make sure that your information in Genesis is up-to-date. The email addresses and telephone numbers in Genesis will be used to send emails and text messages.

Breakfast Program: Kingsway Regional Middle School offers a daily Breakfast Program from 7:40 to 7:55 AM in the KRMS Café. Students who wish to participate should report directly to the café upon entering the building. Breakfast includes a main dish, a side, and a milk, and students may eat in a reserved section of the café. At 7:55 AM, breakfast will end, and students will then report to their enrichment/ homeroom locations. All students are eligible to participate; however, only those who qualify for free or reduced lunch will receive breakfast at no cost. All other students will pay $3.00 and may pay with cash or funds from their Kingsway lunch account.

KRMS Student Handbook: Please be sure to read through the KRMS Student Handbook with your child prior to the first day of school.

Voicemail/Teacher Websites/Email: All voicemail and email contact information is available on our website---www.krsd.org.

AM/PM Binders: All students will be required to purchase two binders this year--one A.M. binder and one P.M. binder. The A.M. binder will be used for your child's first four classes of the day, and the P.M. binder will be used for your child's second four classes of the day. Binders can be 2 or 3 inches in size. For full supply list, click HERE.

Physicals: All incoming 7th-grade students must have a completed, up-to-date (less than 365 days old) physical on file as new students to the district. If no physical is on file, students will not be able to attend/participate in the following: field trips, clubs, wellness activities, dances, sports, extracurricular activities/events.

Sports: All Fall sports will begin tryouts on Thursday, September 10. Students must have completed the proper registration through Genesis and physical forms completed to try out. Practices will take place Monday through Friday 2:45pm-4:10pm. Once you sign up through Genesis, you will receive a letter requesting payment for the athletic participation fee of $100. Payment must be made prior to the start of the tryout. Please be prepared to pick up your child at 4:10pm or he/she will be placed on the late bus. Game schedules will be posted on Kingsway Go Bound Website, by mid-August.

1:1 Chromebooks: All incoming 7th grade students will be issued a Chromebook in homeroom on day one. If you are interested in obtaining Chromebook insurance for the device, please visit this site for more information. Click here.

Chromebook Insurance: Chromebook insurance for the 2026–2027 school year is available now through November 1st for $25 per student. This plan helps protect you from costly repair bills caused by accidental damage. We encourage all families to take advantage of this protection. More details and enrollment information can be found here: https://www.krsd.org/departments/technology/11-chromebook-insurance

1:1 Chromebooks: While in school, students are required to utilize their school issued Chromebooks. Students are not to bring or use their own personal devices at school. Using the Chromebook inappropriately will result in disciplinary action. Please review this with your child. We saw an uptick in this area last year.

Schoology: Kingsway Regional School District uses Schoology (pronounced "Skoo-luh-jee") as its Learning Management System (LMS) to support and streamline student, parent, and faculty interactions in an all-in-one digital environment. Through Schoology, parents can view their student's courses, check grades, and communicate with teachers. For step-by-step directions to access to Schoology (parents & students), click here.

Attendance Update for 2026–2027

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Kingsway's attendance procedures will align with New Jersey law and NJDOE requirements.

Under state guidelines, only certain absences—such as college visits, religious observances, approved civic events, and other NJDOE-designated reasons—will be reported as excused. Absences for illness, medical appointments, vacations, and personal reasons will be reported as unexcused for state reporting purposes only unless otherwise required by law. This designation does not result in disciplinary action.

Students may have up to 16 total absences before attendance is reviewed. Families will continue to receive notifications as absences accumulate at the 5, 8, and 12 day threshold, and any review will consider the student's individual circumstances.

Student health and safety remain our priority. Families should continue to keep students home when illness makes attendance unsafe or inappropriate.

Renaissance Program

Renaissance Program Supporters: During the 2025-2026, school year, Kingsway Regional Middle School’s Renaissance Program celebrated students’ academic success, attendance, positive behavior, and involvement in both school and our community. We celebrated 413 students for earning Renaissance card students in February. We hope to surpass last year's mark this year. Program sponsors make the program and recognition rewards possible. Our local business partners provide incentives in the form of discounts and coupons for our students while others donate funding to support field trips and marking period celebrations. We are truly grateful for the support of our 2025-2026 sponsors: Zallie's Shoprite of Woolwich, Spirit, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Inc., Raising Cane's, Kiwanis Club of Greater Swedesboro, Nathan Boerlin Scholarship Fund & Dragon Run, Swedesboro Diner, Sweetsboro Pastry Shop, Village Eyecare, Petals & Paints, WaWa, West Deptford Eyecare, Dave & Buster's, Tribeca Hair Studio, Classy Cow Food Joint, Chick-Fil-A, Swedesboro Hardware, Top Golf, and Philly Pretzel. Transportation

Student Drop Off Time: The doors to the middle school open each morning at 7:40 a.m. Please use the access road in front of the school when dropping off. The drop-off zone is indicated by two orange cones. When stopped between the orange cones, no matter how far you are from the front doors, please let your child out of the car so we do not cause a traffic back-up on our campus. If everyone abides by the guidelines, the drop off line will move quickly in a safe and orderly manner.

Dismissal/Student Pick-Up: If you plan to pick up your child at the 2:38 p.m. dismissal time, please use the parking lot in front of the middle school. Traffic is not permitted to use the main access road while buses are loading (2:35 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.). Please pull as far forward in the parking lot as possible. This will ensure the buses have plenty of room to line up for afternoon dismissal.

Bus Assignment: Students often times want to ride the bus home with their friends. This is prohibited due to space on our buses. Only in extreme emergencies will permission be granted. Social conveniences will not be acknowledged as such. If an emergency arises, please have both students provide a note signed by each of the parents, and the request will be reviewed by an administrator.

Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Picture Day: Middle School photos/yearbook pictures will be taken on September 11th during your child's Physical Education class. Within 7 days after picture day, you will receive an email with your personal link/login to view your child's image and purchase their photos (you may need to check your spam/junk folder). No need to pre-order or pre-pay for photos. For detailed information, click here, or go to the middle school website under the Parent Tab and click on Picture information.

How to Sign Up for Clubs/Activities: Students can sign up for clubs through Schoology by entering the specific club codes to show their interest. They may join multiple clubs this way.

Once a student joins a club, they will receive notifications about meeting dates and times. Club advisors will also send out invitations to attend meetings.

Important:

-Students must sign up during homeroom/during enrichment.

-Each club session/meeting is limited to the first 30 students (depending on the club/activity) who sign up on the day the club is meeting.

Electronic Devices: Students are not permitted to carry their electronic devices during the school day. Cell phones, iPads, smart watches...should be turned off and locked in your child's locker. Please help us enforce this rule.

Dress Code: The detailed middle school dress code is located in the online Student Handbook on page 13. Please review this with your child. Your child will be asked to change if their outfit does not adhere to the dress code, and he or she will be subject to the code of conduct. Please help us enforce this rule.

Student Lunches: Student lunches are $4.00 for the 2026-27 school year.

Online Payment System: My School Bucks, an online payment system, is available to view cafeteria purchases and schedule automatic payments to your child's meal account. There is a link to this system on the Kingsway website under the "Parent" tab on the right hand side of web page. More food service information is also available on the District's food service page under "Departments".

Dragon Run: The Dragon Run is set for Saturday, September 26th and is accepting registrations now: https://naterocksheaven.org/DragonRun/

Swedesboro Day Volunteer: Middle school students are needed for various assignments at Swedesboro Day in downtown Swedesboro on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Students can sign up by clicking here.

Gifted & Talented Selection for 2026-2027 SY: We are not accepting nominations for the Gifted and Talented program through September 30. Nominated students will participate in G&T testing on October 18. When considering a nomination, please reflect on your child's learning experiences and interactions so far this school year. To guide your decision, we encourage you to review this list of common traits of G&T learners. Nominations may be submitted by clicking the link here.

In addition to nominations, all students will be screened for testing using NWEA MAP. Students who score in the 95th percentile or higher on the Universal Screener (Fall MAP) in either math or ELA will be automatically rostered for testing. Please note that percentiles are localized, not nationally normed, which means the results uploaded to Genesis may not directly match the localized scoring criteria used for G&T testing.

Please feel free to reach out to our Gifted & Talented Programming Supervisor, Nicole Verasco [verascon@krsd.us] or Coordinator, Megan Potter [potterm@krsd.us] with any questions.

Universal Screener: A universal screener (The Behavioral and Emotional Screening System or BESS) will be utilized in the fall and spring to proactively capture our students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The 5-10 minute web-based questionnaire will be completed in students’ Physical Education classes in September and February. The results will tell us where we are as a district and help to inform the development of appropriately tailored interventions and supports. You may choose to opt your child/children out of wellness screening results and outcomes by emailing Fallon Corcoran at Corcoranf@krsd.us by 2:45 pm on September 8.

Athletic Schedules and Tickets: We are excited to announce that Kingsway Athletics transitioned to GoBound as our new platform for athletic schedules and digital ticketing starting July 1st for the 2026-2027 school year. GoBound provides a user-friendly experience that allows families to easily access athletic schedules, receive updates, and purchase event tickets online.

Additional information, including instructions for accessing schedules and purchasing tickets is attached. We appreciate your support as we make this transition and look forward to providing an improved experience for our students, families, and fans.
