Safety and Support at CPMS
A great addition to Greenfield High

Working together to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
I hope your family had a wonderful and restful spring break! As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we are looking forward to welcoming our students back, ready to finish strong. On Monday, students will be reminded of the expectations below and will hear about the updates to our district discipline measures during 2nd period. We will also have reminders of these expectations throughout the days this week and in the weeks to come.
To ensure a smooth transition, I want to take a moment to share a few important updates and reminders. We ask for your help in encouraging your student to work to meet the expectations and get the most out of this last marking period.
Campus Safety & Security Measures
To help ensure student and staff safety, the following protocols will be in effect:
1. Designated Entry Point – All students (except self-contained) must enter through the rear cafeteria doors between 7:30–8:15AM.
2. 100% use of detection systems and bag checks– All bags, purses, binders, and instruments will be checked daily upon entry. Any student who arrives on campus at any time during the day will be checked. Students who leave and return, will be checked upon their return. Any bags/lunches dropped off for students in the office will also be checked.
3. Dress Code & ID Enforcement – Students are required to wear their IDs at all times, visible from the front (at the waist or above) while at school or at school functions, and while riding to and from school on district transportation. There will continue to be strict enforcement to ensure safety and quick identification. Students are also required to follow the KISD Dress Code which can be found on page 58-59 of the SCOC (link below).
5. Prohibited Items – Students may not bring prohibited items to school. A list of prohibited items can be found on page 11 of the SCOC (link below). A few other items that are specifically prohibited at CPMS and have been an issue lately are blankets and ski-masks. Students are not to have any electronics that do not fit in their YONDR pouch. All prohibited items will be confiscated and must be picked up by a parent or guardian (electronics will follow district cell phone policy).
6. Restroom Access – Restrooms will be monitored during class time and passing periods to reduce misconduct. Only one set of restrooms will be available during class times. Students are encouraged to use the restroom during passing periods to minimize loss of instructional time.
7. Passing Periods – All Staff is in the hallways for all transition periods. Students are expected to walk on the right side of the hallway to minimize congestion and keep traffic flowing. Students are also expected to go from Point A to Point B (meaning from wherever they are to their next class directly). They are not to be wandering the hallways or walking others to class. If students are found to be in a part of the building where they do not belong, they will receive consequences for insubordination. There is also an expectation that students use a conversational volume while talking as they move in the hallway. Loud yelling or noises create a safety issue.
8. Arrival & Dismissal – Staff is present to monitor student behavior during arrival and dismissal. When students arrive, they have the choice to eat breakfast or head directly to their hallways. Dismissal begins at 3:30PM. Students must remain in their 9th period classroom until their dismissal type has been called over the intercom. Each grade level has specific dismissal exits.
Updates:
- If a student brings any illegal items or items prohibited by the district, they will receive consequences to the fullest extent possible. Prohibited items are also left to the discretion of administration. We ask families and community members to remain vigilant about what students bring to school. Parents or guardians should check their child’s backpack and belongings each day before they leave home. A list of prohibited items can be found on page 11 of the Student Code of Conduct (link below).
- The last week of school in May, we will prohibit backpacks once to ensure we head into the long summer break safely!
- Starting Monday, March 24, 2025, any student who is issued a consequence of “out of school suspension” (OSS) must have a parent/administrator/student meeting in person upon returning to campus before the student can return to regular classes.
- Any student involved in fighting or assaults on campus will face disciplinary placement ranging from 45 days to 180 days, following Texas Education Code and Manifestation Determination Review (MDR) Guidelines.
- Any student who assaults a staff member will be placed in the District Alternative Education Program (DAEP) for a minimum of one school year.
- If an off-campus incident leads to or is linked to a disruption at school, the student involved will face disciplinary placement ranging from 45 days to 180 days, in accordance with state guidelines.
Student Support & Family Engagement
We are committed to maintaining a school environment where all students and staff feel safe and respected. We need your help to reach this goal:
- Talk to Your Child Daily – Discuss safety, making good choices, and the consequences of misconduct.
- Check Backpacks Regularly – Make sure students only bring necessary items.
- Review the KISD Student Code of Conduct together.
- Stay Informed:
- Read our weekly parent newsletter
- Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rancierms/
- Report concerns via the KISD Bully Reporter: www.kisdissafe.com
Our Leadership Team is here to support your student and keep you engaged with your student's learning. Please encourage your student to seek positive solutions to conflicts and remind them that trusted adults are always available to help. Students have access to members of our team every day all day and we are hopeful they will come talk to us if they need help (they will tell you that they see us in the hallways all the time 🙂). Our goal is always to address any concerns or answer questions as quickly as possible.
We appreciate your partnership in making this transition smooth and positive for all students. If you have any concerns or if your student needs support, please email a member of our leadership team:
