Happy 2nd Friday!

We had a great first FULL week of school! We worked extremely hard on our SHARK expectations in the classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and bathrooms. I am so proud of our Sharks already! We have a few events planned next week as we jump start our year in a positive way! I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend. We will see you bright and early on Monday!

Committed to Success,

Heather Touchberry

Volunteer Training - New Procedures for 2025-2026

We have some exciting news that may help our busy families with meeting our volunteer requirements. We are now offering a VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER TRAINING! Follow the steps in the attached file to be cleared to chaperone for field trips and other school events. Please note that MAST requires that all volunteers have a current background check through our Raptor system (information about how to order is in the attached document). Background checks are good for 3 calendar years. If you have any questions, please contact me at whitneymoore@pickens.k12.sc.us. We look forward to working with you this year!

Also, let me know if you would like to be added to PTO's email distribution list for opportunities to help volunteer through their events and activities this year.

STEM Corner

As a magnet school, we are guided by core STEM pillars that shape our curriculum and learning environment throughout the year. One of these key pillars is Engineering. We integrate the Engineering Design Process across all subjects and grade levels, empowering students to think critically and creatively. Through this process, students are encouraged to ask questions, explore possible solutions, design models, evaluate outcomes, and explain their reasoning. This approach fosters problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of real-world applications.

Title I Corner Title I Corner

What is Title I?

Title I is a federally funded program that provides financial assistance to schools with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families. The goal of Title I is to help ensure that all students, regardless of their economic background, have access to a high-quality education and the opportunity to reach academic success.

These funds are used to support a variety of programs and services that help students achieve—such as additional teachers or interventionists, instructional materials, and professional development for staff.

We Need Your Input!

We recently sent home the Parent and Family Engagement Policy and the Parent-School Compact for your review. These documents outline how we work together as a school and family to support student learning.

We truly value your feedback! Please send any suggestions or revisions to Lauren Phillips, our Title I Curriculum Specialist, by August 15, so we can review all input during our upcoming planning meeting. Your voice matters in helping us strengthen our school community and support all students.
