KTVI Broadcast Journalism Career Exploration Trip
The Chelsea Center takes monthly group job shadow trips to a variety of industries and institutions aligned with the six “Pathways to Self-Discovery” designed to help students explore and pursue college and career pathways–Creative, Health, Building & Fixing, Business, Nature, and Helping.
The Chelsea Center is sponsoring a small group job shadowing experience on Wednesday, February 4 to explore what the daily life of a career in broadcast journalism can look like. Students will tour the various departments of a local TV station, meet reporters, producers, broadcast engineers, and other professionals involved in the broadcast of news, learn what happens in the graphics department, be in the control room during a live broadcast, speak with reporters and producers, and more. It's a great opportunity!
We can only bring five students on this trip, but might be able to arrange another opportunity in the future if there is significant interest. If more than five students are interested, we will prioritize juniors & seniors, those who are actively involved with journalism at WGHS, consider teacher recommendations, and look at which permissions slips are returned first. Interested students should register for the KTVI Broadcast Journalism Career Exploration Trip on GivePulse, then come to the Chelsea Center to pick up a permission slip.
Reminder: We can help students who are pursuing their A+ hours find connections to service learning that include the mentorship or job shadowing components the A+ program requires. Have your students stop by to talk with us, or independently explore their GivePulse account opportunity listings at wgsd.givepulse.com.
