Dear Fairfax Families,

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! My name is Edie Fiala and I am your School Social Worker as well as the Homeless Liaison for the CHUH school district. This will be my 9th year at Fairfax Elementary School. As the School Social Worker my primary role is to help families reduce or eliminate barriers to their child(ren)’s right to an education. I address barriers such as absences, tardiness, lack of or limited basic needs, and other life challenges that impact regular, on-time attendance. I am also able to connect families to outside resources for ongoing challenges that may be best addressed through counseling services. The bottom line is that I am here to support you! If I don’t have the answer I will do my best to find one for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Dear Fairfax Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at Fairfax Elementary School! I am thrilled to be in my 15th year working in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District (14th year at Fairfax!). I am so fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of students, teachers, staff, and parents that make up the Fairfax community.

As the School Counselor, my goal is to ensure that every student attending Fairfax has a successful school experience as well as the opportunity to develop socially and academically. This year, I am excited to continue the implementation of our social-emotional learning curriculum, PurposeFull People (Character Strong). As a part of the program, students will develop social skills and learning habits to contribute to their growth and development and positively impact their learning community. Over the course of the school year, students will participate in weekly guidance lessons to practice the skills such as empathy, cooperation, and perseverance. I will meet with students individually and in small groups based on student need and collaborate with parents, teachers, and staff in order to support the needs of Fairfax students and families.
