Hardy Happenings
April 27, 2026

Dear Hardy Families,
It was so good to be back on campus today and see our Hardy Owls again. I missed everyone, and I am grateful to be home at Hardy. There is a lot happening as we head into the final stretch of the school year, so please take a few minutes to read through the updates below.
The most urgent action item is PrimeTime enrollment. The Klassic Kids contract will not be renewed at Hardy, which means that all students currently enrolled in Klassic Kids will need to enroll in PrimeTime. Enrollment closes this Friday, May 1, and there are no exceptions if the window is missed. All SDUSD families received a custom registration link on Monday, April 20, so please check your inbox, spam, and deleted messages and complete registration as soon as possible. Please see the Primetime section below for more information.
We are also asking families to complete the Leader in Me Family Survey. This feedback truly helps us reflect on how we are doing as a school and where we can continue to grow.
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and it is a wonderful opportunity to show our teachers how much they are valued. Please take a moment to look at the ways you can help celebrate them, including door decorating on Sunday, May 3. Gifts are always appreciated, but a kind note or heartfelt thank you can go a very long way.
Today, our students in grades 3–5 began ELA CAASPP testing, and they came in ready to do their very best. Our Lighthouse Team created sweet encouragement posters to cheer students on and help them feel confident and supported as they begin testing. As we continue through the testing window, please help your child by making sure they get a good breakfast and arrive at school on time each day.
With gratitude,
Principal Aragon
HARDY INFORMATION
Leader in Me Family Survey
At the end of each school year, we ask our families to take a moment to reflect on their experience at Hardy. Last year, we received an overall score of 78 out of 100, with family engagement and student leadership opportunities identified as areas for growth. We take that feedback seriously and use it to reflect, make improvements, and continue growing as a school community.
This year, we have worked intentionally to strengthen those areas by adding more than seven student leadership groups on campus, launching our Friday morning assemblies, hosting Parent Night Out, and creating additional opportunities for connection, voice, and leadership across our school community.
This year, we again invite you to take a moment to consider your experience at Hardy and share your perspective with us. Your voice matters, and your feedback helps shape the decisions we make moving forward.
Families are invited to complete a survey that takes about 12 minutes. We hope to receive one response from each household. If you have more than one child at Hardy, please answer based on your oldest child’s experience.
Please take the survey here:
https://www.leaderinme.com/s/hardy-elementary/families
Please complete the survey by May 7, 2026.
Grades 3-5 - State Testing Reminder – CAASPP
Testing will take place each day from approximately 8:00–10:00 a.m. Please avoid scheduling appointments or absences during this time. Please plan ahead for construction on Montezuma, as students who arrive after testing begins will need to complete the assessment during a make-up session.
You can help your child do their best by making sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat breakfast, arrive on time, bring a book for after testing, and come with a positive mindset.
Testing dates:
3rd–5th Grade CAASPP ELA: April 27–May 1
3rd–5th Grade CAASPP Math: May 4–8
Thank you for helping our students feel prepared, confident, and supported.

5th GRADE PROMOTION
5TH Grade Promotion Information
We are excited to celebrate our 5th-grade students and honor them at their Promotion Ceremony. We look forward to recognizing this special milestone with our promoting students and their families.
Ceremony Details
The Promotion Ceremony will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m on Wednesday, May 27, and is expected to last approximately 45 minutes. The ceremony will be held outdoors on the back blacktop, facing the library. Students are welcome to dress up for the occasion.
Seating
Chairs will be provided, with approximately two seats available per 5th-grade student. Additional guests are welcome to bring their own chairs and will be asked to sit behind the provided school seating.
Seating will be available after morning drop-off at 7:45 a.m. To help all families enjoy the ceremony, we ask that balloons, noise makers, and other view-obstructing/noise items not be brought to the event.
Parking
Please plan ahead, as parking will be extremely limited and will likely be the tightest parking situation we have experienced at Hardy during construction. Most families should plan to park in the SDSU garage or in neighborhood areas where parking is permitted. Please do not park in red zones, permitted spaces without authorization, or double park under any circumstance.
Dismissal After the Ceremony
If you plan to sign your student out after the ceremony rather than have them remain until the regular dismissal time, you must sign the sign-out form before leaving, located near the promotion area. If you will also be signing out a sibling, you may include their name on the same sign-out form. Our PrimeTime and after-school programs will still be available that day.
We look forward to celebrating our 5th graders with you.

If you’d like to join in, reach out to your Room Rep. Not sure who your room rep is? Email volunteer@hardypta.com.
⭐ 4. Keep it simple
A note, a drawing, a poem, or even a single flower can mean just as much as a gift. Every gesture of appreciation matters.
Thank you for helping us celebrate the people who make Hardy such a special place. ❤️
🤘 Thank You for Parents Night Out
Thanks to everyone who joined us at Mesa Bar & Grill, it was a fun, relaxed evening. Even Principal Aragon showed up! We’re also grateful to The Mesa for the discounted meal packages. Want to help plan events for parents for next year? Let us know at hootline@hardypta.com.
🗳️ PTA Elections — This Friday, May 1
Please join us for our PTA General Association Meeting, where we will vote on the proposed 2026–27 PTA Board (see slate above).
How it works:
The Nominating Committee has prepared a proposed slate of officers
Additional nominations may be made from the floor during the meeting
Voting takes place live at the meeting
A quorum (minimum number of members present) is required to hold the vote, this is an important safeguard to ensure the process reflects our community, but it only works if you show up!
We hope you’ll join us. This is how we collectively shape the leadership and direction of the PTA for the coming year.
