πŸ“£ What a Great First Week!

As we begin a new school year, we are reminded that the heart of South Hunterdon is our people and the relationships we build with one another.

Our goal is to create classrooms where every student feels known, valued, and supported; where engaging learning experiences spark curiosity and inspire students to take risks, ask questions, and discover what they are capable of; and where every member of our school community feels a genuine sense of belonging.

We want South Hunterdon to be more than a place where students come to learn, we want it to be a place where everyone wants to be, a community where students, families, and staff feel connected, welcomed, and proud to be part of the South Hunterdon family.

As we look ahead to the year, we are excited to build meaningful relationships, create memorable learning experiences, and continue making our schools places where everyone can learn, grow, and thrive together.

Enjoy the Labor Day Weekend,

Jane-Ellen

Launching Project Based Learning in Grades K-12!

We are thrilled to announce that this school year, our district is officially launching Project-Based Learning (PBL) through a cohort of teachers in each of our three schools. Through this initiative, participating teachers will develop and implement rigorous, authentic, and engaging learning experiences for students. Our goal is to build a strong foundation for PBL across the district while creating meaningful opportunities for students to apply their learning, solve real-world problems, and develop skills that will prepare them for future success.

In a PBL classroom, projects aren't just a creative add-on at the end of a unitβ€”they are the "main course" of learning. This means academic instruction is integrated directly into the project itself. Guided by their teachers, students will tackle challenging, real-world questions and collaborate with their classmates to find meaningful solutions.

Instead of simply memorizing facts, our students will:

  • Drive their own learning through active, student-driven inquiry, curiosity, and research.
  • Build essential success skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and effective communication.
  • Share their work with a public audience beyond the classroom walls.

Research shows that when students are actively engaged in PBL, they find their schoolwork to be more challenging, interesting, worthwhile, and enjoyable. We look forward to seeing our students' curiosity lead the way this year, and we can’t wait to invite you to celebrate their projects and presentations of learning!
