Exploratory Day Success!
Rain or shine, our middle school students embraced the adventure today for their end-of-year Exploratory Day! From golfing in Wrangell and paddle boarding at Blind Slough, to hiking Raven’s Roost, practicing archery, and picnicking at Sandy Beach—our students made the most of it.
A lucky group even stayed dry while creating beautiful jewelry at school with Grace Wolf—thank you, Grace!
Huge thanks to all the families who volunteered and made this day possible. This tradition continues to be a highlight of the school year, and we love seeing our students explore, laugh, and learn together.
Have a fun idea for next year’s Exploratory Day? Reach out to a staff member—we’re always looking for new adventures!

Petersburg students once again represented their school and community well, on and off the field!
Foods Science Fun!
Mrs. Ward Food Science class had the unique opportunity to take a field trip led by Victoria Moore, a respected Native knowledge bearer in Petersburg. During the excursion, students explored the diverse plant life of Southeast Alaska, learning to recognize medicinal plants.
Victoria shared traditional uses and stories tied to these local plants, emphasizing the deep connection between Indigenous knowledge and sustainable practices. Students engaged with the land in a meaningful way, gaining a greater appreciation for the abundance and healing potential of the natural world around us.
We are incredibly grateful to Victoria for sharing her wisdom and to the land for offering such rich biodiversity. Experiences like these bring science, culture, and community together in powerful ways.
