Fremont Elementary School
May 9, 2025 NEEDS TO BE CHANGED
A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
As the weather warms up, we’re enjoying the extra sunshine and taking advantage of more outdoor learning opportunities here at Fremont! With the rising temperatures, please remember to send your child to school with a water bottle each day. Staying hydrated is essential for both learning and safe play in the heat.
We’ve also noticed some students wearing sandals and flip-flops. While it’s tempting to dress for the warmer weather, we kindly ask that all students wear closed-toe shoes. They provide better protection and help keep little feet safe throughout the school day.
It was a joy to see so many familiar faces at Kindergarten Registration this week. We’re thrilled to welcome new families and look forward to greeting our newest Fremont Wildcats this fall!
Wishing you a safe and sunny weekend,
Beth Carmody
Half of our first-grade students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Chicago Botanic Garden this week! They explored beautiful gardens, participated in hands-on activities, and learned all about plants and nature. The other half of our first grade will enjoy the same experience next week. We can’t wait for them to have just as much fun and learning in this beautiful outdoor setting!

Medication Pick Up
Fremont School District has set up guidelines for the administration and transportation of medications at school. These guidelines have been established in order to ensure the safety and well being of all children.
Parents/Guardians are responsible for picking up any medication at the end of the school year. All medication, including inhalers and Epi-Pens, must be picked up by 4:00 pm JUNE 2, 2025. Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication. MEDICATION WILL NOT BE SENT HOME ON THE BUS WITH YOUR CHILD. ANY MEDICATIONS LEFT AFTER JUNE 2 WILL BE DISPOSED OF.
If your child will be attending any summer school programs, please let the Nurse Dana know and those medications can be picked up on the last day of their summer school session.
As a reminder, new Medication Authorization Forms will need to be filled out by the child’s physician each school year. Forms can be found on the school website in the Health Services section.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter. If you have any questions, please contact the health office.

SEL Plan for 2025-26
We are excited to share that our district will be launching a comprehensive Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) plan beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. This initiative, guided by the RULER framework, will help students, staff, and families build emotional intelligence and foster a positive school culture. Staff will receive foundational SEL training, and each school will implement consistent SEL practices tailored to their community. Over the next three years, SEL will be integrated into classrooms and supported through family workshops, with the goal of strengthening connections between home and school.
This effort aligns with our newly developed Portrait of a Graduate, which defines the key skills and mindsets our students need to thrive—including resilience, responsibility, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Together, these initiatives will prepare our students to adapt, collaborate, and lead with purpose in an ever-changing world.

Student Absences
If your child will be absent from school for any reason, please report the absence to the school office by 9:00 a.m. by calling 847-837-0437 option 2. Safety is our number one priority so please help us by reporting as soon as possible. Attendance at school is crucial for your child’s success so every effort should be made to avoid non-health-related absences.
School Lunches
Fremont School District menus are now available with real-time updates as well as complete lists of all allergens and nutritional information through Quest Food Management's partner website at FDMealPlanner.com. When you access the website, you will simply enter "Fremont" in the Search field and click your student's corresponding school for a complete list of all items served for the daily meal for the month as well as any other sides and accompaniments.
With FDMealPlanner, you may view a condensed menu including the daily special offering, or by toggle, view the entire Quest offerings for the whole day in your student's school. Any menu changes from week to week will also appear daily on this portal. You may also build menus for your student to participate in to exclude certain allergens.
