SCHOOL CALENDAR
Here are the color-coded and written events calendars for the 2026-27 school year. Any changes to the school year calendar will be communicated through the school website
From the Desk of Mr. Miller
Hello again, AGS Nation!
I am super excited to start another school year! Our custodial staff has been working hard all summer, and the school looks absolutely amazing. A huge thank-you to them for all their hard work!
Please take note of our new school start and stop times. This will most likely change your normal drop-off and pick-up times by approximately 10 minutes. Students can enter the building at 7:40am and will need to exit by 3:20pm. Simply contact the office if an emergency arises and we will work to accommodate.
We are still finalizing our bus routes and will send those out next week.
A few important reminders:
Open House: August 20
~Elementary: 4:30 - 6:00p.m.
~MS/HS: 5:00 - 6:30p.m.
~6th Grade Orientation: 5:00p.m. in the Cyber Cafe
Chromebooks and schedules will be handed out during Open House.
If you are unable to attend Open House, you can pick up your Chromebook and schedule on the first day of school.
First day of school: August 24th
We are getting closer, and I can't wait to see everyone back in the halls!
Thanks & Go Wolverines!
BUS ROUTES
Due to the change to our bell schedule for this school year, and the addition of new students to our district, we are still in the process of timing out our routes. We anticipate that the stop locations will be the same this year.
Bus routes will be posted on the front of the Main Office and sent out via email. The times are not exactly timed for residences but are listed at corresponding corners for reference. Please allow 5-10 minutes before and after your scheduled time to account for changes of times due to students that are adding and dropping from our school roster (this is happening continuously by the minute), and for general transportation issues we work through.
After the first few days, times should start to become more consistent. Please also make sure your children are standing at your designated pick up spot so our drivers can clearly see you in a safe area.
OPEN HOUSE
Open House is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 20, and run from 4:30-6:00 for elementary students and from 5:00-6:30 for MS/HS students. Open House is a great time to meet and greet your new teacher while exploring the buildings and getting you ready for your new learning adventures. Student classroom schedules for this event for MS and HS families can be picked in the Events Lobby entrance heading into the main gym if they weren’t picked up during “Schedule/Chromebook Pick Up” from 8-3 earlier in the day.
SCHEDULES AND CHROMEBOOK PICK UP
Schedule and Chromebook pick up is slated for Thursday, August 20, during open house. If you are unable to attend Open House, you can pick up your Chromebook and schedule on the first day of school. Devices will only be distributed for students in grades 9-12.
When picking up your Chromebook, fliers will also be provided offering the opportunity to purchase insurance for the school year. The cost is $29 for Dell Chromebooks. To find out what Dell Chromebook you have (either 3100 or 3110), check the back in the small print. This offer ends September 30.
Insurance must be purchased online through the school website or at the following link: https://gpo.worthavegroup.com/gpo/agsschools/ . When completing the transaction they will ask for a student number. This is simply the lunch # that students use on a daily basis, but it can also be found on Skyward. To help make the decision if you want/need insurance, click on the purple hyperlink showing “What’s Covered”.
*If you are unable to pick up your Chromebook during this time you will receive it the first day of school.
FALL SPORTS PRINTABLE SCHEDULES
Linked below are the PDF schedules for our fall sports teams. Changes could occur, however, so up-to-date schedules may always be found on our website.
NEW BELL SCHEDULE
.
MORNING DROP-OFF PROCEDURE
For our morning procedures, students are able to head to their respective classrooms at 7:45 each morning. Students may enter the building at 7:40. Please do not drop off your children before 7:40 as we do not have supervision prior to this. At the end of the day students need to exit the building by 3:20pm unless supervised for an after school activity. Simply contact the office if an emergency arises and we will work to accommodate.
The drop off and pick up for:
High school students will be at the north doors on Michigan Avenue OR next to the main entrance of the parking lot of the Events Lobby.
Middle school pick up and drop off will be at the north end of the glass hallway by the flagpole.
Fourth and fifth grade will be at the south end of the glass highway by the kitchen.
Second and third grade will be at the south side of the parking lot at the covered entrance of the elementary.
Preschool, kindergarten, and first grade will be on Court Street in front of the elementary.
HOMECOMING
We are just starting back to school, Homecoming is just around the corner! Homecoming this year will be the week of September 28 - October 2.
Although there are various dress up days during the week, the week concludes with a plethora of activities on Friday and the Homecoming dance on Saturday. Some of the events on Friday include a parade starting at 4:30, a Carnival beginning at 5:00, and the Homecoming football game at 7:00. The Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, October 3.
Come enjoy the fun while contributing to our strong school culture and Go Wolverines!
CAREER CENTER
For our Career Center families, the bus will leave the parking lot at 6:35 am promptly on the second day of school, Tuesday, August 25th.
If students choose to ride OR drive to the Career Center separate from the bus, they MUST have a permission form on file in the main office first. Only two students are allowed to be in the vehicle, the driver and one passenger. Failure to do so may jeopardize future driving opportunities. This policy is for safety purposes.
ENROLLMENT INFORMATION
If you have not done so yet, please make sure you have updated your yearly fall registration information in Skyward. In addition, please make sure you complete the Household Information Report provided through Food Service. Although all students receive free breakfast and lunch, these forms are needed for school funding and other reporting purposes.

CURRICULUM & CLASS SUPPLY LISTS
Students and families may still be soaking in those last moments of summer break but here at school, the wheels have been in motion all summer long. Our student materials are ready to be unboxed by staff next week to begin another great year of learning here at AGS. We are continuing our work to meet the mark set by the State of Michigan and our elected leaders regarding early literacy.
While many key elements still need to be shared from above before next year’s required deadline of implementation, here at AGS, we have been making moves to be ahead of those deadlines with curriculum adoption and alignment of our resources. Our building continues its work on implementation of an approved curricular resource with HMH Into Reading in grades K-5 and HMH Into Literature in grades 6-12.
We are also putting renewed focus this year on our essential standards. The essential standards are the critical skills, or foundational blocks, that students must learn in order to be successful at the next grade level. As we continue our work to ensure your students are meeting their goals in their learning, we are also making sure we are meeting the mark as a district to give them the best possible outcome when they leave us both academically and socially.
As we prepare to receive them on day one, our building looks great thanks to our hard-working maintenance staff who spend long hours getting the building ready while most everyone else gets a break. Be sure to give them a shout out or thank you if you see them in the community. They do a tremendous job all year long but especially over the summer to make sure we are ready to roll on day one with students.
If you have not yet looked at the supply lists for your child’s grade level, they are attached here. We can’t wait to see full backpacks and smiling faces.
ATTENDANCE
This year we are changing a few of our policies and procedures surrounding attendance. During the first week of school, each family will receive a letter mailed home with a few items. One of the items will be a letter explaining what will look different in terms of attendance. We will also be sending each family a fridge magnet meant to help you track your student’s attendance. The magnet will also share the Bay-Arenac ISD’s website with attendance information. We will be sharing different attendance resources and information throughout the school year. If you are interested in following the attendance Facebook page for the BAISD, you can do that here, Region 5 Facebook.
Counselor's Corner
Welcome back students and parents!
Just a couple updates to start this school year for Middle/High School students and Dual Enrollment/EMC students.
1. Once schedules are available please wait until Open House or the First day of school to reach out about any problems. Emailing will not solve the problem.
2. Dual Enrollment/EMC students: Please login to your Delta/Davenport/ACC or other college accounts to check your start dates, order your books if you are attending Delta/Davenport/other. Delta students can order through the bookstore and click financial aid to have it billed to school. ACC students I will have your books for you and Davenport/other please order your books and bring the receipt for reimbursement.
3. Schedules will be addressed in both first come first serve and importance, so please be patient as we get everyone settled in this school year.
Thank you and please enjoy the last week plus of summer break before the new school year begins.

AGS HEALTH CLINIC NEWS
The Au Gres-Sims Health Center opened for business last spring and we are excited to start our first full school year of operation in 2026-27. The health center has been seeing patients throughout the summer and is looking forward to students being back on campus.
The AGS health center is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:30-4:00pm. Appointments can be made by calling Sterling Area Health Center at (989) 654-2491 and selecting option 1, then 6 for Au Gres-Sims.
All patients must have a completed medical packet on file before they can be seen. This is a one-time completion packet (until the student turns 18), meaning that if you filled out one last year, you are good to go!
