NEWS FROM MRS. DAVIES
This week, preschoolers go to enjoy an exciting, high-energy assembly with The Junkman, where everyday and recycled items are transformed into musical instruments. This interactive performance featured a variety of fun segments—from body percussion and kitchen rhythms to rock and “junk rack” music—ending with a school-wide Junkjam where everyone joins in!
Beyond the fun, the program encourages a love of music, teamwork, and creativity. Students learn about rhythm, cooperation, and respect, while also exploring “Enviro-Chants” that promote kindness, inclusiveness, and simple ways to care for our planet.
Preschoolers absolutely loved rocking out with the JunkMan and cannot wait to make their own instruments using everyday items in their classrooms!

NEWS FROM MRS. CAPEL
Dear families,
Our Kindergartners have been buzzing with excitement as they dive into learning about
the life cycle of butterflies. From tiny eggs to crawling caterpillars, and from chrysalises
to beautiful butterflies, students are discovering each stage through hands-on activities,
stories, and observations. They’ve been asking thoughtful questions and making connections
to nature. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity take flight as they learn about
change, growth, and the magic of the natural world.
Aside from learning about butterflies, students have been working hard on their journey
to becoming confident readers and writers! Each day, they are building strong reading
habits by practicing letter sounds, recognizing sight words, and using picture clues to make
meaning from texts. In writing, our young learners have been exploring how to express
their thoughts by creating opinion pieces. They are learning to state what they like or
prefer and, most importantly, give reasons to support their ideas.
Thank you for taking the time to stay connected with all the exciting learning happening in
our kindergarten classroom!
NEWS FROM PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Health and Physical Education
In Physical Education this month the students have been learning new activities and sports skills. The students in grades 4 – 6 participated in Archery, April 13 -24, where they learned how to safely shoot a bow and arrow at a target. Students in grades K – 3 participated in Target Activities where the students focused on aiming toward a target with a variety of equipment during game play. During the next couple weeks our student teachers, Mr. M. and Mr. Harris, will be focusing on wiffleball and kickball with the students. The students will also be learning a variety of different forms of kickball. Mr. M. and Mr. Harris’s last day with us is May 6th.
Field Day is currently scheduled for June 12th.

NEWS FROM MUSIC
Happy Spring Break! Right now band and choir are wrapping up concert preparations for the rapid approach of their concert on May 21st. The students are working so hard and they cannot wait for everyone to see what they have been working on.
A couple of reminders for the spring concert. If your child is performing in the spring concert make sure they are in proper dress code which is: Black bottoms and white top. If it is possible to avoid sneakers, wonderful if not try your best to find black that won’t stand out.
The Date of the concert is May 21st at 7:00pm. There will be a flyer that will be sent out later with all of this information as a reminder. I am so excited for everyone to see the hard work that these students have been putting in.
Thank you all so much for your continued support of the arts.
