NEWS FROM PRESCHOOL
As we begin the final study in our Creative Curriculum, Exploring Gardening, our preschoolers are diving into the wonderful world of plants, pollinators, and growing things! Throughout this study, we will be investigating how to plan and care for a garden, what grows in a garden, who helps gardens grow, and how gardens benefit both people and the environment.
This week, we have been busy observing and documenting caterpillars as they move through their amazing lifecycle transformation into butterflies. Alongside our butterfly study, we have also been learning about many important pollinators, especially bees! We were fortunate to welcome a very special guest — a beekeeper — who shared her wealth of knowledge about bees and the important role they play in our world.
Our young gardeners have also had the opportunity to get their hands in the dirt while exploring and working in our school garden. We are so grateful for these authentic, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity, discovery, and a love for nature!

NEWS FROM FIRST GRADE
First graders are exploring super animal powers in science this week! Our students have been observing real animal behaviors to discover how nature solves problems. Now, they are being put to the test to try to discover man made items that can mimic the traits we see in the natural world. The first graders are using straws and cups to mirror a bird’s beak and discover which type of beak works best for picking up food. Young scientists also recognized the power of camouflage and created their own unique patterns to blend into the classroom. You can keep your child exploring the world around them this summer by signing up for local library summer camps! Check out this link and have fun!

NEWS FROM FOURTH GRADE
Fourth graders had an exciting and educational field trip to the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) this week! Students spent part of the day exploring the Ecozone, where they observed a variety of native plants and animals up close. From reptiles to birds, the hands-on exhibits helped bring our science learning to life and sparked lots of curiosity and great questions.
In addition to exploring the Ecozone, students participated in engaging team-building activities. These challenges encouraged cooperation, communication and problem-solving as students worked together to complete different tasks. It was wonderful to see students supporting one another, showing leadership and building stronger classroom connections outside of school.
The trip was a fantastic blend of learning and fun. We look forward to building on this experience back in the classroom!

NEWS FROM PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Field Day Announcement:
We would like to send a huge thank you to the PTA for their generosity in purchasing Field Day shirts for all students and staff this year! Their continued support helps make special events like Field Day even more memorable and exciting for our school community.
Shirts will be distributed to students the morning of Field Day so everyone can wear them throughout the day’s activities and celebrations.
Our theme this year is “Field Day is Out of This World!” We are looking forward to a fun-filled day of games, teamwork, laughter, and school spirit. Thank you again to the PTA for helping make this event such a special experience for all of our students!
In other news, an exciting event will take place on Tuesday, May 26 in the gym as our Kindergarten and 3rd graders will compete virtually against Charleroi Elementary students in LU games. More information to come!
