From 1800 with Pride... Reflecting on an Extraordinary Year

As we enter the final 10 days of the 2025–2026 school year, it’s a great time to reflect on what has been an incredible year at Owensboro High School. Our Red Devils have continued a proud tradition of excellence achieving at high levels in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, and throughout our community.

This year has been filled with standout accomplishments. We celebrated our State Football Champions, cheered on our Regional Soccer Champions, and watched student-athletes set state records and achieve personal bests.

In the classroom, students pushed themselves to new heights taking on rigorous coursework, tackling the SAT for the first time, and preparing for life beyond high school.

Our Fine Arts programs have also shined brightly. Students earned distinguished ratings on assessments, represented OHS by performing at the KMEA Conference, and showcased their creativity through juried art shows. From the main stage to the Black Box, our Red Devils have shared their gifts and talents while entertaining and inspiring audiences.

Beyond achievements, our Red Devils made a meaningful impact through service. Students led with purpose, served with heart, and grew through experience by giving back to our community. Our Red Devils supported blood drives, food drives, Socktober, and our veterans, and brought joy to younger students by helping provide birthday cake kits and providing Christmas for a record number of fellow students.. These efforts reflect who we are at OHS... committed not only to excellence, but to making a difference.

To the Class of 2026, thank you for the legacy you leave behind. You have made your mark on OHS in meaningful ways, and we are proud of all you have accomplished. Thank you for being part of the OHS tradition of excellence. As you take your next steps, we encourage you to go be GREAT. Know that you will always have a home at OHS, and we look forward to seeing all that you achieve.

To our families and students, thank you for your unwavering support, trust, and partnership throughout the year. We are truly honored that you chose Owensboro High School, and it is a privilege we never take for granted. The strength of our Red Devil community is built on you, and we are grateful to walk alongside you in this journey.

As we close out this school year, let’s take pride in all that has been accomplished and celebrate the moments that have defined us. Once a Red Devil, always a Red Devil!

Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week at Owensboro High School

Next week marks a very special time at Owensboro High School, Teacher Appreciation Week! It’s an opportunity for our entire Red Devil community to celebrate the incredible dedication, compassion, and impact our teachers bring each and every day.

At OHS, our teachers do so much more than deliver instruction... They inspire curiosity, support growth, and guide students through challenges as they prepare for life beyond the classroom. They truly embody lead with purpose, serve with heart, and grow through experience. Their impact reaches far beyond academic achievement; they help shape the character and confidence of every student who walks through our doors.

Throughout the week, we’ll be showing our gratitude through a variety of school-led activities, including thank-you notes, themed appreciation days and small tokens of gratitude.

We invite our families to join us in celebrating by sharing a kind word, note, or message of appreciation. Use the link below to access the OHS Teacher Appreciation Form and recognize a teacher who has made a difference in your child's life. Please submit by Friday, May 8.

OHS Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) Testing Window... May 5–7, 2026

At Owensboro High School, our Red Devils are ready to finish the year strong! Students in grades 10 and 11 will take the Kentucky Summative Assessments (KSA) from May 5–7, 2026, demonstrating all they have learned this year.

All Kentucky students participate in KSA to meet state and federal requirements. These assessments are developed by Kentucky teachers, are aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards and measure student progress and proficiency. Grade 10 students will be assessed in reading and mathematics, while grade 11 students will be assessed in science, social studies, writing, and editing/mechanics.

KSA goes beyond multiple-choice questions. Students will engage in extended response and technology-enhanced items that allow them to demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of skills. Students will receive scale scores and performance levels (Distinguished, Proficient, Apprentice, Novice), providing meaningful feedback on their progress.

As part of the testing window, students will also complete the Quality of School Climate and Safety (QSCS) Survey, sharing feedback that helps us continue to strengthen the learning environment and sense of belonging at OHS.

We believe in our Red Devils! This is your opportunity to show what you know! Stay focused, use the strategies you’ve practiced, and give your very best effort.

Let’s make it a great testing week at 1800!
