I am so proud of our students and staff for all of the hard work they have been doing in their classrooms every day! I see students treating each other with kindness, friendship, AND working so hard to grow academically. Thank you, parents, for all of the support you provide your children each and every day!
April is Personal Safety Month. We will be sharing out resources on our Facebook page to help guide discussions between you and your children on what it means to be safe!

New Website Launch!
Over the next few weeks, campuses across the District, including ours, will be launching a new website. When that happens, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the refreshed design and set new bookmarks for your browsing convenience. You can also download the new Conroe ISD app in your device’s app store and begin customizing the pages and news you want to see.
Additionally, in the coming weeks, you will receive information about our new mass communication system called Alerts. Be on the lookout for texts from 98900 when the new system is implemented. Emails and texts may have a slightly different look, but they’ll still contain all the great information we share. These transitions are part of a bigger initiative to bring efficiency to the District’s communication platforms, and there are more exciting updates to come!
ORHS Summer Camps!
Summer School Registration
Summer School Registration for Pre-K through 6th Grade will open from April 7 - May 16. Summer School will be housed at Hope, Rice and Lamar for Pre-K to 2nd grade. For 3rd through 6th grade, students will attend Hope, Bartlett and Vogel Intermediate. Please reach out to your campus for specific information about program eligibility.
25-26 School Year Vacation Planning
Create a TAE!
Join us in celebrating the hard working staff at Houser Elementary by creating a Teachers Achieving Excellence form in the Parent Access Center at http://parents.conroeisd.net/. This can be done for any staff member that works at Houser!

Watch D.O.G.S. Wanted!!
Houser is seeking Watch D.O.G.S. for Spring 2025! A Watch D.O.G. is a father or father figure, grandfather, uncle, or brother 18+ years who is interested in volunteering during school hours. Activities include reading to students, monitoring the hallways, assisting physical education, car rider assistance, and classroom activities. The Watch D.O.G.S. program offers students and their adult male figure a unique bonding experience. For more information, please call Mrs. Salas at Houser Elementary at 832-663-4000.
Personal Safety Month

Attached you will find a copy of our Parent and Family Engagement Policy and our School-Parent Compact. As you review the documents, please give us feedback if you have any suggestions, ideas or comments. You may email Ms. Floyd, Counselor at klfloyd@conroeisd.net. These documents are also available on paper in the Houser front office.
Attendance Matters!
Please ensure that your students attend school every day that they are healthy and well. We know that flu, strep, and other illnesses have been rampant this season, but please send your child to school when they are healthy!

Updated School Hours
7:30 - 7:55 Student arrival and breakfast is served.
7:55 Car rider line closes and students will begin being marked tardy. Breakfast is closed.
3:10 Car rider and bus dismissal begins.
Lunch times for the 24-25 school year:
10:50-11:20 PK, ECSE, & 1st Grade
11:25-11:55 Kindergarten & 3rd Grade
12:00-12:30 2nd & 4th Grade
Car Rider Map and Directions
Important Information for Car Rider Line:
- Please enter the car rider line from Oak Ridge School Road in two lanes and merge into one once you reach the parking lot. Please do not take a LEFT into the car rider line. All cars will need to enter from the right lane. Buses for some students will enter the car rider line and go straight. Do not follow them as you will get stuck behind them as they are unloading. See the map above for assistance.
A few reminders:
- Morning Arrival:
- Doors will open at 7:30 am.
- Breakfast will be open until 7:55 am each day for students who need to eat at school. Breakfast will not be served to any car riders that arrive after 7:55 AM. As a reminder, breakfast and lunch are not free for students this year. If you have not already done so, you will need to apply for free & reduced lunches this year. Applications can be found online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/.
- Parents are not able to park and walk their child across unless there is a previously scheduled appointment, such as with the nurse or front office.
- Cars that get in line before 7:55 will not have their child scanned tardy. If your vehicle gets in line after 7:55, your child will be marked tardy.
- Afternoon dismissal:
- Have your car rider sign visible so it is easy for the staff to see. Holding it up or having it attached to the front visor is a great help. You can use a plastic pants hanger to hang it from your mirror.
- If you do not have a sign, please have your id ready and pull into an available parking spot.
- Please pull all the way up to the first empty spot! Your child will be delivered to your car.
- If your child needs assistance buckling up, please move past the last cone in the car rider line before buckling your child so the line does not get backed up.
- No one is allowed to walk up and retrieve their child for car rider dismissal. You will be asked to return to your car and enter the car rider line.
Bus Transportation
To receive notifications about your child’s bus, including departure and bus stop arrival times, sign up for the SMART tag™ Parent App at www.conroeisd.net/transportation/smart-tagparent-app/
- Students who were registered for transportation last year in CISD are automatically registered to ride the bus the following school year unless there is a change in their home address or they now attend a school that is within one mile of their home.
- Students who are “new” to CISD or new bus riders must register for bus service online to be assigned to a bus. Please note that bus assignments can take up to five school days.
- You can register your children for transportation services and look up bus stop information by visiting our website at conroeisd.net/department/transportation.
1. Click “Register for Transportation” to register your child.
2. Click “What Bus Do I Ride?” to look up your child’s bus route.
3. Click “Student Eligibility” and enter your child’s Student ID number and date of birth to obtain their bus information for your child’s campus.
Which Bus will My Student Ride?
After registering your child for bus service, go to the Transportation portal link at routeinfo.conroeisd.net to find the latest route information. An email and phone message will go out at the beginning of the year instructing parents to log into the Transportation portal link to find the most up-to-date route information. For safety reasons stops are not placed on dead-end streets, cul-de-sacs, or dirt roads.
PreK and Kinder Students: Remember, all pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students must be met at the bus stop by a parent/guardian, or designated individual named on the Transportation Supervision Waiver Form.
SMART Tags
Conroe ISD uses the SMARTtag™ ID system to increase security and efficiency across our campuses.
All students will receive a new SMART tag™ ID for the 2024-2025 school year. Please note that these are crucial to bus safety, and should remain on your child's backpack for the entire school year. If your child changes backpacks during the year, the tag needs to be placed on their new backpack.

Get Involved in CISD!
Parents, there are many ways to be involved in Conroe ISD besides at Houser Elementary! Want to have input on District Level Planning & Decision Making? Are you passionate about Attendance zones for new schools? There are district level committees you can join to make sure YOUR voice is hear in CISD!

Parents can pre-pay online for meal accounts beginning August 1, 2024.
