Every Eagle has a place to Soar!
What a wonderful Halloween celebration! We had such a fun time celebrating with our Halloween parade, classroom parties, and Trunk or Treat. Thank you to all of our families, teachers, and PTA who helped make the day so special. The smiles, costumes, decorations, and festive activities created memories we will cherish!
As we turn the calendar to November, we welcome a new month filled with opportunities for learning, growing, and showing gratitude. November is a wonderful time to reflect on all the things we are thankful for and to celebrate the kindness and generosity within our school community.
We look forward to another exciting month together. Thank you for your continued support and for being such an important part of our school family. Happy November!
We hope you have a terrific Thursday and a wonderful weekend!
Respectfully,
Jill Jenings and Lisa Most

Happy November Eagle Ridge Families!
As students move through the school year, they are continually learning new academic skills, navigating friendships, and discovering how to handle challenges. Whether it is struggling with a difficult assignment, feeling left out at recess, or working through a disagreement with a friend, these moments are important opportunities for growth. Learning that challenges are a normal part of life helps children develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
Overcoming Academic Challenges: When schoolwork feels difficult, students may become frustrated, discouraged, or tempted to give up. Helping children understand that learning takes time and effort can make a big difference. Encourage your child to:
Embrace mistakes: Mistakes are part of learning, not a sign of failure.
Break it down: Big assignments or difficult tasks feel more manageable when broken into smaller steps.
Use positive self-talk: Replace "I can't do this" with "I can't do this YET!"
Navigating Social Challenges: Friendships can bring wonderful experiences, but they can also come with disagreements, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings. These experiences give children opportunities to strengthen their social and emotional skills. Encourage your child to:
Communicate feelings: Use "I feel..." statements to express emotions respectfully.
Consider different perspectives: Remember that others may see a situation differently.
Practice problem-solving: Think about possible solutions instead of focusing only on the problem.
Try This at Home: Turn Challenges Into Learning Opportunities!
The way we respond to challenges teaches children how to approach difficult situations. When your child shares something that feels hard, try asking:
"What part of this feels most challenging?"
"What is one thing you could try differently?"
"What did you learn from this experience?"
Remember, our goal isn't to remove every obstacle from our children's paths, but to help them develop the confidence and skills to work through them. With encouragement, practice, and support, children can learn that they are capable of handling hard things!
Wishing your families a wonderful November!

Another fun way to practice is the FREE Word Club app, where students can work on spelling and vocabulary words through games and activities.
A few tips for getting started:
Practice just a few words each day.
Have someone quiz you aloud.
Say the word, spell it, and say the word again.
Pay attention to tricky spelling patterns.
Most importantlyโhave fun and do your BEE-st!
