Unity Day, started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in October 2011, is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. It is the day when we come together to send a visible message of building community through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. The call to action is simple: wear and share the color orange. This vibrant statement becomes a conversation starter, showing support for students who have been bullied and for bullying prevention.

You're Invited: Forward Together Community CORE Chat at Mill Street School You're Invited: Forward Together Community CORE Chat at Mill Street School

Wednesday October 21 at 6:30 pm in the LC

Dear Families and Community Members,

The future of learning in Naperville 203 is shaped by the voices of the community it serves. Over the next year, our district is engaging families, students, staff, and community members to co-create Forward Together 2032, a shared vision that will guide our district's long-term future.

We warmly invite you to join us for a Community CORE Chat hosted right here at Mill Street School in partnership with our Home & School group.

At our CORE Chat, we will spend time discussing each of these three prompts:

  1. Picture a 2032 graduate who is truly thriving out in the world. What does the Naperville 203 school environment need to look like to make sure our schools are delivering those specific skills and experiences? What should we stop doing to make room for it?

  2. Trust is built or broken in the micro-moments. Think about a time when you or someone you know felt a disconnect or a breakdown in trust with the district or a school. Without naming names, what exactly went wrong in that interaction, and how could it have been handled differently to preserve the relationship?

  3. Sometimes, what we want to preserve (like academic success or traditional programming) directly clashes with what we need to evolve (like student mental health, balance, and new pathways). When our community's desire for tradition collides with our need for future innovation, how should Naperville 203 navigate that tension?

CORE Chats are intimate, facilitated 30–45 minute small-group conversations focused on active listening, building trust, and open dialogue. This is not a presentation of predetermined plans; it is a genuine opportunity for us to listen, learn, and define our community's core values together.

Community CORE Chat Details:

  • Date: October 21, 2026

  • Time: 6:30 pm

  • Location: LC

Please save the date, and keep an eye on our district communications for additional updates and opportunities to share your voice. We look forward to partnering with you to shape the future of Naperville 203!

Dental Presentations to Kindergarten and Second Graders Dental Presentations to Kindergarten and Second Graders

Next Tuesday, October 27th, The National Theatre for Children will be at Mill Street to give dental presentations to Kindergarten and 2nd graders.

The Kindergarten presentation will take place at 9am, the 2nd grade presentation to follow at 9:40am.

Land of Smiles, is a free, in-person 25-minute program sponsored by Delta Dental that teaches your students all about dental health and wellness in a fun, interactive way that's accessible to everyone! The two actors use a pop-up set and theatrical show to teach your students about:

  • Why teeth are important and how to take care of them
  • How to brush and floss teeth properly
  • Importance of eating healthy foods and visiting the dentist

Your students will also receive our smile bags, which will provide them each with their own toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss. That way they can practice the good oral health habits that they'll learn in the program at home as well.

Fall Parties and Parade At Mill Street Fall Parties and Parade At Mill Street

This year, we will celebrate the fall season on 10/30/26 with parties hosted by H&S from 8:30–9:15 am, followed by an outdoor costume parade at 9:30 am.

More details to come on costumes and the parade, but keep in mind that we are in a school setting so no weapons (knives, swords, hatchets, etc) or bloody costumes will be tolerated. We invite students to wear dress up wear, spirit wear or fall costumes.

We know that costumes and fall celebrations may not be the right fit for every family, and we want to be respectful of each family’s preferences. More information will be shared about how to opt your child out of the party and parade.

Core Connection: Lightspeed Parent Controls Workshop at NNHS Core Connection: Lightspeed Parent Controls Workshop at NNHS

The initially planned AI Family Guide Core Connection conversation is being rescheduled to January 20 due to team availability. In its place, families are invited to join Matt Langes, Director of Innovation & Learning, and Art Andersen, Director of IT, for a hands-on Core Connection focused on helping families better understand and use Lightspeed Parent Controls.

The session will include a brief overview of how the tool works, followed by workshop time for families to get set up, explore available settings, and ask questions.

Families are encouraged to bring their child’s District device, along with a personal phone or device they use at home. SAs and/or Technology Support Associates will be available throughout the session to provide individual support and help troubleshoot questions.

Outcome: Families will leave with a clearer understanding of Lightspeed Parent Controls, how to access and use available features, and how the tool can support conversations and expectations around technology use at home.
