Parent/Guardian Input for Class Placement 2026-2027 (due by April 27, 2026)

April 3, 2026 Dear Parents and/or Guardians, ** Even if you do not have class placement input, please answer the first 4 questions. This spring we will devote a great deal of time and energy considering the needs of each student for next year’s class placement. Our goal throughout this process is to develop heterogeneous classes which, we believe, generate the most productive learning environments for students. Toward this end, we create a team consisting of classroom teachers, special educators, school counselor, behavior interventionist, reading teachers, unified arts teachers, and administration to consider the following factors: class size; boy/girl balance; a full range of aptitudes within each class; an even proportion of abilities and learning styles in each class; social relationships; and teaching styles. Once these factors have been considered, the team begins to build a class of children who show promise of working well together. As parents, you have an understanding of your child that can contribute to our decision-making process. If you wish to lend information from your parental standpoint, please complete the attached questionnaire which will provide the team with additional information to guide them in the placement process. Please do not assume that mentioning information at a parent teacher conference replaces these forms. These forms will need to be completed on or before Monday, April 27, 2026. We want to know more about your child’s learning characteristics from your perspective so we can make a good match. Your comments will constitute one of the many factors which are considered in forming classes. Final placement decisions reside with the school. Your child will learn of her/his placement on the last day of school, and it will be noted on the report card. We appreciate your understanding and continued support of the placement team’s effort to create the best possible learning environment for all of our students. Thank you in advance for your input. Sincerely, Kristen Reed Principal Grantham Village School

Reading problems are common, but they can have different causes and warning signs. Sometimes a problem is simple and quick to solve while others may require extensive intervention. Here are some common reading issues and ways to get help for your child.
