" EACH OF THE PATRIOTS WHOM WE REMEMBER ON THIS DAY WAS FIRST A BELOVED SON OR DAUGHTER, A BROTHER OR SISTER, OR A SPOUSE, FRIEND, AND NEIGHBOR ."
- George H. W. Bush
Good Afternoon, CUSD,
We have arrived at our last three-day weekend of the school year. There is a lot of excitement and numerous special events happening across the district, but we are still in learning mode and want to finish strong!
A major focus at the end of the year is our LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) which will be approved by the Board and sent to the State in June. A draft of the 2026-2027 LCAP can be accessed at the following link: DRAFT 2026-2027 LCAP . It is important to note that the financials included are estimates and will be adjusted based on the Governor’s May revise and will be aligned with the budget adoption in June. If you would like to provide input about the draft plan, please use the following link to access the feedback form. Click here to provide your feedback
I would like to give a special shout out to our CUSD Librarians: Faye Hunt (Lead Librarian & CHS), Megan Pettit (CMS), Kristin Argobright (VES), Beth Linde (SSES), and Charles Gonzales (CHS Library Media Tech). School libraries are the heart of each campus and a place where every student finds themselves at some point in the school year. Thanks to our dedicated librarians, our libraries are places where students can explore their curiosity, develop critical research and learning skills, and sometimes just find a quiet place to relax. Please take a minute to read the 2025-26 CUSD School Library Impact Report.
Tonight is the CHS Powder Puff Flag Football game - 7pm at Neidermeyer Field. The community is invited to come experience the hilarity of the cheerleading and the intense competition on the field. The snack bars on both sides of the field will be open, and you cheer for either the Seniors (in blue on the home side) or the Juniors (in pink on the visitors side). Don’t miss this fun tradition!
This weekend and Monday we celebrate Memorial Day as a solemn holiday and with the purpose of honoring the memory of military personnel who died while serving our country. This day carries special significance in Coronado and we want to express our sincere gratitude to those within our community and their loved ones who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day, we will see you on Tuesday,
Respectfully,
Karl J. Mueller

Ed Tech Parent Series
SDCOE is excited to announce the upcoming Educational Technology Parent Series, a free virtual learning opportunity open to all parents and educators across our region. This series is designed to support families and school communities in navigating educational technology and resources that empower student success.
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Jenna Shelton: Every day I sit and eat my lunch outside and watch the 2nd and 3rd graders go from lunch to recess. It' always controlled chaos, loud, and unruly. Until Jenna was hired as our campus assistant. For the first time, the entire 3rd grade was walking (not skipping or running) and silent out to recess. This wasn't a fluke either, the next day: same thing! It's so nice to have such a strong and helpful leader on our campus contributing to our school's culture of respect and responsibility!
- Mrs. Amanda Tarantino has been leading Hydroponic farming lessons to all 2nd graders in CUSD. The lessons are informative and engaging. The students are so excited to harvest their lettuce and celebrate with a salad bar party. 2nd Grade teachers are so grateful for Mrs. Tarantino's time and expertise each and every year. Thank you!
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
