School Council Meeting
Our first School Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 9 at 6:30 pm. Parents/Caregivers will have the option to attend in person in our Learning Commons (library). School Council is a collective association of parents, teachers, and administrators who work together for the betterment of the school community. Among other important roles, the School Council dialogues with the principal on a variety of school matters. We will be selecting our School Council Executive for the 2024-25 school year at our first meeting. The agenda and link for the meeting will be uploaded to our school website later next week.
Jr. High Option Changes
Signed change request forms must be returned by Tuesday, September 9. No late requests will be accepted. At this time, we will be doing both Semester 1 and 2 course changes. We do our best to try to ensure every student receives the classes that they are interested in but cannot make guarantees students will be able to switch due to limits on class size.
Terry Fox Assembly and Run
This year, we celebrate the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox. Lakeland Ridge is very excited to be hosting Fred Fox on September 17th for a special kick of assembly!!!
We will follow his presentation with our annual Terry Fox Run in the afternoon on September 17th.
The past two years Lakeland Ridge has raised over $20,000 towards cancer research. Last year alone we were the 5th TOP fundraiser in all of Canada! Students are encouraged to collect donations for Terry Fox from September 8th -19th.
Cash donations will be collected daily at school and online donations can be made at https://schools.terryfox.ca/98396.

Early Dismissal Collaboration Wednesdays

Home/School Communication
Open communication is an integral part of our school community. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s education, please don’t hesitate to reach out and contact the school for clarification or to share important information. Your child's teacher is typically your first point of contact. Likewise, teachers will also contact you when they need your support to ensure your child’s success. The partnership between home and school has a positive impact on students' engagement, motivation, behavior and academics!
Parking Lot
When dropping off and picking up students, please ensure you are not parking in bus zones or staff parking spaces at any time, even for a quick stop. Staff parking spaces have all been allocated between the staff from Lakeland Ridge, Holy Spirit and EIPS Supports for Students. All staff parking spots are in use, however, you may see some open spots because staff from all 3 organizations arrive and depart at various times of the day. Please do not park in an empty staff parking space.
Door Locking Procedures
All exterior doors, including the front entrance doors, will always be locked, and opened only for student and visitor access during designated school entry times.
Our front entrance is equipped with a doorbell and camera linked to the front office. Visitors seeking entry into the school are required to use the main entrance and ring the bell for assistance. Please remember to sign in at the office on our iPad. For safety reasons, it is imperative that we are aware of who is in the building and where there are helping out just in case of an emergency.

Division Code of Conduct
EIPS has three administrative procedures (APs) that address the Division’s code of conduct:
· AP 311: Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning Environments for Students
· AP 350: Student Code of Conduct
· AP 351: Student Conduct on School Buses
The Division, and Lakeland Ridge School, are committed to ensuring all members of the school community are provided with welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments that respect diversity and foster a sense of belonging. EIPS encourages all students, staff and families to review the procedures to understand and practice the conduct expected throughout the Division.
Video Surveillance at Schools and on Buses
Did you know each EIPS bus is equipped with video surveillance, and many school sites have video monitoring equipment?
Video surveillance and equipment help:
- ensure the safety of all students, staff, drivers and property; and
- discourage destructive acts.
As needed, EIPS school administration and Student Transportation staff review video recordings, in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Act. The recordings assist schools and the Division with monitoring student and driver conduct and may be used as evidence in a disciplinary matter.
For more information about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, contact the EIPS Privacy Officer at 780-464-3477.
