Principal's Corner
Dear BFPP Families,
So many great end of the year celebrations, from the Craft Fair and plays (Newsies was amazing), to the Eighth Grade Celebration and 5th Grade Track Meet, plus the family camping trip, park days, Celebration of Talent and Learning Show, there is so much happening.
Next week we are also running registration for the Enrichment Classes. Here is some info and reminders.
Spring Registration:
- Class descriptions are below and in AL*e
- Day 1 – 1 class - June 5th at 8:00am the window opens, this will hopefully enable everyone to get their first-choice class
- Day 2 – 2 more (3 total) - June 6th families will be able to add two more classes
Fall Registration:
- Day 1 – 3 total - September 9th at 8:00am the window will open again, classes will be at full capacity, families can add, drop and make changes
- Day 2 – open - September 10th families will be able to add classes that have openings beyond the 3, recommend 2-3 for Kindergarten, 3-4 for 1st to 3rd graders, 4-5 for 4th and 8th graders, and on campus 2-3 days, waitlists will start on this day in the Communicator Room
Registration Tools:
Other notable considerations:
- Out of grade placement considerations happen after the registration windows are closed.
- We are setting the capacity to 70% capacity for this first round of registration. In September we will then increase all of the classes to their full capacity. This will allow for us to see what classes are popular, make adjustments where needed, and leave space for all families in the second round of registration, including new families.
- Other Enrichments- We will continue to add workshops, book clubs, general clubs, community partners, events, field trips, Come and Connect and other all-around great activities! Plus, we should be adding some staffing too, this will allow us to fill some gaps, especially for 4th and 5th grades.
Addressing some of your questions and feedback:
- We looked into the comprehensive middle school schedule conflicts with electives and our schedule. All of the middle schools have different schedules, multiple lunch periods, and just a few teachers offering those electives, so there is really no way to avoid the conflicts. If moved one way or the other on our schedule, it would just affect a different grade level on theirs.
- Again, we hope to add more classes in the fall through additional staffing. This is a regular cycle of things. We'll focus on campus, look into more 4th and 5th grade opportunities and hopefully add some art.
- Offering excursion and experiential place-based learning opportunities has always been a goal and intention of BFPP. Throughout our 10 years we have had many classes offered that are outdoor (yes, even in the winter months). This schedule reflects a return and enhancement of those learning opportunities. We value the amazing place we live in and while there are some families who can afford the outside providers that offer forest school and other outdoor opportunities not all families can. We have been attending PD, making connections with other ALE programs that offer outdoor school, and we are now leveling up. BFPP will always be innovating and finding ways to grow our practice and offerings.
In partnership and appreciation,
Dr. Kate

If you plan to keep curriculum items for summer learning, please bring them in, or send Laura the title and barcode number so that they can be renewed.
Thank you for helping us to get an accurate inventory of our curriculum items, we appreciate your help.
