Bearkat Families,

It is such a joy to see our hallways filled with students once again! The start of a new school year always brings an energy and excitement that reminds us why we do this important work. From the smiles on the first day to the routines that are now beginning to settle in, it is clear that our students are ready for a year of learning, growth, and opportunity.

We want to thank you for sharing your children with us each day. We know that when families and schools work hand in hand, amazing things happen for students. Our teachers and staff are already working hard to make sure every child feels safe, supported, and challenged in the classroom.

As we move into September, our hope is that your child is not only learning new skills but also experiencing the joy of friendships, creativity, and discovery. Together, we will continue to create a school culture where every student can thrive.

We are so glad your children are back in our hallways, filling our schools with life and purpose. Thank you for being an essential part of our district family, we look forward to all that we will accomplish together this year.

Let’s continue Achieving Excellence Together!

Proud Superintendent,

Mallory Marr

We are excited to share that the Community Daycare will officially open its doors on September 2nd! This new center is dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while supporting families in our community. We look forward to welcoming our first group of Baby Kats and beginning this journey together.

Looking ahead, the 2024 Bond Projects are well underway in the planning phase. We are working closely with our partners at CADCO to bring these exciting projects to life. We invite you to click here to view the most current architectural drawings to see the vision beginning to take shape.

The Long-Range Facility Planning Committee met in August to continue discussions about the future needs of our district’s facilities. This committee, made up of parents, staff, students, and community members, plays an important role in reviewing enrollment trends, building conditions, and program needs in order to make recommendations that will guide future projects and investments. We appreciate the time and input of each member as we work together to ensure our schools are well-prepared to serve students for years to come.

Accountability Update

We are proud to announce that Glasscock County ISD has received an A rating for 2025 from the Texas Education Agency! This outstanding recognition reflects the dedication, commitment, and high standards that define our schools and the entire GCISD community.

Earning an A rating is no small accomplishment. It represents the hard work of our students, the passion and expertise of our teachers and staff, and the unwavering support of our parents and community members. It demonstrates that our district is not only meeting state expectations, but exceeding them, by providing a learning environment where all students can thrive.

This achievement is also a reflection of the countless hours spent inside and outside the classroom—teachers designing engaging lessons, students giving their best effort every day, and families encouraging and supporting learning at home. It takes all of us working together to make success like this possible, and we could not be more grateful.

While we take great pride in this accomplishment, we also know it is just one milestone in our ongoing journey. GCISD remains committed to continuous improvement, always striving to provide even greater opportunities for our students. Together, we will continue to raise the bar, celebrate our successes, and keep our focus on preparing every child for the bright future that lies ahead.

Elementary School – Earned an A rating and received 5 out of 6 possible distinctions, showcasing excellence in multiple areas of student learning and achievement.

High School – Earned an A rating and was recognized with the Postsecondary Readiness Distinction, highlighting our commitment to ensuring that every student is prepared for college, career, or military pathways after graduation.

Energy Bus in the Garden

The Energy Bus for Schools is helping us bring positivity and character building to life on our campus. Based on the best-selling book The Energy Bus, this program encourages students to take ownership of their choices, show kindness to others, and approach challenges with a positive mindset. By focusing on teamwork, respect, and responsibility, the Energy Bus helps create a school culture where students feel supported, motivated, and ready to lead. Together, we are building not only academic success but also the character traits that will carry our students forward in life.

Parents: Action Needed for the 25–26 School Year!

New state requirements (SB12) mean parents must now give permission for certain school services. Three quick forms were sent home with your child the last week of August:

1. Student Clubs – Parents must provide written consent before students can participate in any school-sponsored clubs.

2. Health Services – Nurses now require parent permission for care such as first aid, health checks, and screenings (except in emergencies).

3. Counseling & Support Services – Parent consent is required before students can take part in guidance lessons, goal-setting, or short-term support services.

Thank you for completing and returning these forms as soon as possible.
