Avilla Families,

Happy Holidays from all of us at Avilla Elementary. This is a fairly short newsletter due to the short month of school we've had in December.

Students return to school on Wednesday, January 3. We will be welcoming students back with lots of reminders about school procedures and expectations. I hope that you all have a nice holiday season and Happy New Year!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered in Claus' Closet. Your generosity and support made it a success, spreading warmth and joy this holiday season.

As we embrace the holiday break, we extend our sincerest wishes for a happy and safe time with your loved ones. Exciting things await us in the new year, and we look forward to your continued involvement.

Mark your calendars for our next PTO meeting on 1/8/24 at 3:30. Your presence and ideas contribute to the vibrant spirit of our school community.

Our car line is very long in the morning and afternoon. Our number one priority is student safety. If you are picking up or dropping off your child, please do not park in our lot across the street and walk across to the sidewalk. This creates safety and time issues for our line. We need everyone to join the car line and remain in cars for safety and efficiency. Here are a few tips to keep your time in line shorter:

• Please do not allow your students to leave your car until adult supervision is visible on the sidewalk in the morning. There is no supervision before our doors open.
• Consider joining our line closer to drop off and pick up times. On Mondays our doors open at 8:30 and Tuesday through Friday at 7:45. Arriving in advance will simply lead to waiting in line.
• We dismiss daily at 2:45. Our preschool families need the car line space for their afternoon dismissal.

February 2 Komet Hockey Avilla Night--Free for all staff and families

February 15, 2023 Parent Teacher Conferences 3:30-7:30. These conferences are by teacher invite or parent request only.

March 15 PTO Carnival 6:00 to 8:00 pm

May 8 Music program in gym for grades 1, 3, 5 start time 6:00 pm

May 13 Preschool Grandparents' Day--More information as we get closer

May 23 5th grade field trip to Junior Achievement Biz Town

May 24 Field Day (Tuesday, May 28 will be our rain date)
