Monday Message/El mensaje del lunes!
Dear La Escuela Fratney Families,
Welcome to our weekly Monday Message! We hope you are enjoying the signs of spring and the warmer weather.
This week marks our final week of Forward testing. If your child is in 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade, please help us by ensuring they attend school every day so they can complete all required assessments. We appreciate your support in helping students do their very best.
Our youngest learners have something special to look forward to! On Tuesday and Wednesday, our K4 students will be attending a field trip with Urban Ecology. We hope they enjoy this exciting opportunity to explore and learn outdoors.
On Wednesday, in celebration of Earth Day, we warmly invite all families to join us for our Family Earth Night from 5:00–6:00 PM outside at school. Families can participate in activities such as outdoor clean-up, weeding, and other ways to care for our environment. We would love to see you there as we come together as a community to support our Earth.
As the weather gets nicer, we also want to share a few friendly reminders. To help keep everyone safe and focused on learning, please ensure that toys, balls, and personal items stay at home. Additionally, students should come dressed appropriately for school each day, including wearing tennis shoes (no flip-flops or sandals) and clothing that provides full coverage.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a wonderful week ahead!
Spring Reminders for our families
Spring & Warm Weather Reminders for Families 🌷☀️
As the weather gets warmer, we want to share a few important reminders to help keep all students safe, comfortable, and ready to learn:
👕 Dress for School Success
Students are expected to follow our district and school dress code. This means:
Clothing should appropriately cover the body (no visible stomachs)
Students should wear tennis shoes every day for physical activity, recess, and safety
Flip flops and similar footwear are not allowed
🏫 After-School Playground Use
We love seeing families enjoy our playground after school! Please note:
The school building is closed after dismissal, and restrooms are not available after 4:15 p.m.
Students must be supervised by an adult at all times
Everyone is expected to follow our school ruless: be safe, respectful, and responsible
The school is not responsible for any incidents that occur on the playground outside of school hours
🎒 Personal Items Stay at Home
To support a focused learning environment:
Toys and personal items should remain at home
The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items
Staff may collect items that distract from learning, in alignment with our Code of Conduct
✔️ How Families Can Help
Please take a moment to check your child’s backpack regularly and help ensure that personal items stay at home.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us create a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all students!

Volunteers
Volunteers
Are you interested in volunteering at La Escuela Fratney? We welcome volunteers to support with arrival, lunch, and recess times. Per our school policy, families are not able to volunteer in their own child's classroom on an ongoing basis. If you are interested in volunteering in classrooms, it must be a different classroom and be organized and approved through the parent coordinator Ms. Grace.
Here is the paragraph from the MPS Family manual that describes the volunteer process:
Family Volunteers
Persons interested in volunteering are encouraged to follow the appropriate volunteer application process defined by the district. MPS defines a volunteer as a person who provides services on an ongoing or one-time basis. Persons looking to serve on an ongoing basis or for more than five hours a week or for an overnight field trip must complete an online volunteer application, pass a criminal background check (for those 18 years of age or older), and receive a volunteer assignment by the school administrator or parent coordinator. Persons looking to participate in a daytime field trip or other one-time activity must complete a volunteer waiver form. The online volunteer application and the volunteer waiver form are available on the MPS website under the Families tab > Volunteer.

Concerned About A possible bullying incident? Complete this form
There will be one calendar for the whole district again this year. Please review this calendar before making plans for trips or vacations. Students must be in school 95% of the time or more which means they can only miss 1 day a month the whole school year. Students who miss more than 10 days of school a year fall behind academically and socially. Make a plan now to be in school every day on time.
