SLEDMERE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

WEEK ENDING 24TH SEPTEMBER 2021

SLEDMERE CEPRIMARY SCHOOLWEEK ENDING 24TH SEPTEMBER 2021

OUR CHRISTIAN VALUE THIS HALF-TERM

Each term we focus on one of our special Christian values throughout school. This half-term's focus is on friendship. Our children are settling very well and deepening their friendships.

LEARNING

As you will know our school vision is, 'Learning and growing in the love of God.' (1 John 4:16). Emily in Class 1 was in Gardening Club with Mrs Cousins before the summer holiday. She planted a sunflower seed and it grew to be over 7 feet tall. Wow!

This reminds us of how we nurture our pupils' love of learning and help them to grow and develop in God's love.

If you have any photos of home learning we'd love to see them.

PARENTPAY

87% of our families have now activated their account - thank you.

A few key aspects:

  • All hot dinners should be booked via ParentPay please. (You will pay for those meals you book. Any pupils eligible for free meals or Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils will have no cost, but these must be booked for kitchen records.)
  • All After-school club places must be booked via ParentPay please.
  • Due to the nature of the system bookings for Breakfast Club must be via Office, but charges will still appear on ParentPay.

Mr Richardson and Mrs Headley

ENRICHMENT

At Sledmere we ensure that every pupil has the opportunity to access a broad and balanced curriculum. We are immensely proud of our offer to all children.

We are also aware of the reduced opportunities to experience clubs both in school and home due to COVID so we are mapping out a broad range of extra-curricular clubs for this year.

Examples of the kinds of things we are hoping to offer include:

Computing Club

Art Club

Debate Club

Gardening Club

Maths Club

Young Leaders

Forest Schools

Spanish Club

We will inform you about these clubs as each term progresses so your child can book places at the ones they are most interested in.

THANK YOU

Many thanks for your donations towards Jeans for Genes. The children had a special assembly where they learned all about genes. Some very thought provoking discussion was held about how we are helping children who may have faulty or missing genes. The staff were very impressed by the reaction of the pupils. Thank you for helping to make a difference.

PLACES STILL AVAILABLE

We still have places available within our classes. If you know of anybody who is looking for a fantastic school with great children please tell them to contact us. We are happy to show them round.
