PTO Corner
The PTO was excited to put together our first Cold and Flu Drive with the help of Lowe's of Arlington Heights and Mini of Glencoe. We were able to provide families with antibacterial and cleaning products to help prevent germs as the kids go back to school.
We are currently collecting gently used Halloween costumes in all sizes. They can be dropped off or sent with your child to Timber Ridge, addressed to Nurse Geri.
We are also excited to partner with Prospect High School's Scrubs Club this year! The Scrubs Club will help us collect items we need for the school.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Literacy Night on 10/23!

Timber Ridge School Year
September Focus
Our focus for this month has been on preparing for the year ahead, from making sure they are eating healthy snacks to learning positive work habits to participating in our annual drills. Our work is to help our students find healthy structures and routines that will help them achieve their goals they set for themselves at the start of the year! We also want to establish strong communication with families as we partner together to help our students apply what they learn at school to their home lives!
What's Going on Around Timber Ridge
Timber Ridge Events
This past month, we have enjoyed seeing students engage in after school activities in a variety of clubs, we have been proud of their efforts during our safety drills, and we have been excited about our first trips to Sunrise Lake Outdoor Education Center!
Focus on Attendance
🏨Help Your Child Succeed in School: Build the Habit of Good Attendance Early
Did You Know? ✅
Starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
Missing 10% or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
Students can still fall behind if they miss just 1 or 2 days every few weeks.
Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.
Here Are Some Tips to Help Your Child Healthy And In School!
Nutrition, Sleep, and Exercise 🥦🛌🏃🏻♀️
Ensure your child eats a good breakfast every morning.
Maintain a regular bedtime and morning routine.
Keep screens out of the bedroom and limit use prior to bedtime.
Encourage your child to stay active for at least 60 minutes a day.
Overall, for the month of September, Timber Ridge had 90% in attendance!
Shoutout to Ms. Roscoe’s room for having 97% attendance for the month!
Spotlight on STEM
Spooky STEM News: October Edition
We've had a wonderfully spooky and creative month in our STEM labs! Students across all grade levels applied their critical thinking, engineering, and coding skills to some fun, Halloween-themed challenges.
Primary Students: Dash Robots & Daring Mazes
Our youngest students dove into the world of robotics and coding! They successfully participated in Halloween-themed STEM challenges, including designing and building a complex maze for our Dash robots.
Elementary & Junior High: Haunted House Engineering
Students in Elementary and Junior High put their engineering design skills to the test by constructing elaborate Haunted Houses out of cardboard.
The creativity and craftsmanship were truly amazing! They not only focused on the structural integrity of their houses but also incorporated unique elements to make them extra spooky.

Family STEM Challenge: The Great Gourd Drop!
Here is a fun, seasonal challenge you can do together as a family to practice physics and engineering!
The Challenge:
Design and build a device that will safely transport a small pumpkin or gourd (or a raw egg, if you prefer a classic twist!) from a high vantage point—like the top of a staircase, a balcony, or even just holding it high—to the floor without breaking or damaging the gourd/egg.
Materials You Can Use:
Newspaper
Straws
Tape
String or Yarn
Rubber bands
Plastic bags (for air resistance/parachute)
The Goal:
Focus on cushioning the landing and/or using air resistance (a parachute) to slow the descent. Discuss concepts like impact force and gravity as you build!
PBIS Corner
What is PBIS?
Timber Ridge school maintains the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program to further support our students. PBIS is a proactive approach to establishing behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional, and academic success.

It was a morning filled with fun, friendly competition, and positive reinforcement!

Students who achieved Level 3 and Level 4 earned a relaxing and entertaining movie experience!

Keep Up the Great Work!
A huge shout-out to all our students and staff for making our school a positive and supportive learning environment. Let's continue to work together and look forward to the next round of exciting PBIS incentives!
CAAEL Corner
Flag Football
The Timber Ridge Wolves are midway through their flag football season! While their current record sits at 1–2, the team has been making tremendous strides in their understanding of the game. Just as important, the Wolves continue to demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship—win or lose, they’ve represented Timber Ridge with pride and respect.
As flag football winds down in the coming weeks, excitement is already building for the start of our CAAEL soccer season, which will kick off shortly after the final whistle of football. Go Wolves!
