A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy Bronco Family! Wow, it’s hard to believe that November is here, and Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. While Hobby Lobby already has Christmas-stocked shelves, we are going to slow down the holiday spirit and cheer and not pass by the month of being thankful.
I am thankful to have the privilege and opportunity to be part of this great Bronco family. I am incredibly thankful to be a small, and hopefully impactful, part of the students’ lives while they are all a big part of mine. I am so thankful to work with the best staff in the state. I am thankful to be a part of the best administrative team with Mr. Turner, Mrs. Estes, and Mr. Atcheson. I am forever thankful thay my journey has led me to Meadow ISD and Meadow, Texas. What are you thankful for?
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

Math
- In Math we will be working on addition. Students will learn new vocabulary related to addition such as the plus and equal sign. We will also work on writing an addition sentence.
Phonics
- This week we will continue to work on the letter Ff. Then we will start on letter Rr. We are still working on Phonemic awareness skills such as initial, final sounds, rhyming, syllables, and deleting initial sounds to make new words. Please have your child read and return small decodable readers. All students have five new sight words to work on for the next two weeks.
Reading
- During Interactive Read Alouds- IRA the students continue to listen to stories. We are still working on identifying the genre, type of genre, and identify the beginning, middle and end for each story. Our new AR goals are up for the next quarter. Please continue to read to your child for 20 minutes each night. Please continue to ask those comprehension questions after reading those AR books. Students also need to bring their AR books to school each day. Please read those books at least three times before AR testing.
Science
- We are still working on light, shadows, and reading about sources of light.
Other
- Send a water bottle. Please message me or call the office if your child is going to be sick.
Thank you, parents, for that you do.

MS. DAWDY - 1ST GRADE
We have had so much fun this week in First Grade!!
We did a pumpkin investigation with several different types of pumpkins. We cut them open, felt the insides and even tasted it! We made predictions of what could happen to the pumpkin in a day and in a week.
We made our own Crankenstein and lots of other fun Halloween activities!
Keep reading your Library books, everyone is doing GREAT at earning their points.
MRS. ALANIZ - 2ND GRADE
Super second graders!!
This week was full of spooky, creepy, silly learning! We started our Halloween festivities with a creative writing workshop where we focused on developing a problem and finding a solution. We worked on a fun bat craft in math and practiced some two-digit plus two-digit addition. We wrapped up our Halloween themed week with a Creepy Science lab! Students tested their detective skills by using their senses and matter unit vocabulary to describe the feeling of weird objects placed in a box (cooked noodles, a pile of gloves, mandarin oranges...). This is one of my favorite lessons and the kids loved it too. They did a wonderful job communicating, observing, listening for clues, and making educated guesses. We even had some special guests join us!
Just a few reminders...
-Spelling test will be on Tuesday
-Sight word quiz every Friday
-Math fact check every Friday
Please continue to encourage your child to read at home. The only way to get better at anything is to practice!
Thank you for all you do!
-Mrs.Alaniz

MS. GAMEZ -5TH GRADE
4th & 5th Grade Math
-In 4th grade math, we are slowly working through long division and the students are noticing how important multiplication math facts are to getting it done. This is going to take a while because there are a lot of steps that need to be taken to solve the problems. We will get there.
-In 5th grade math, we are multiplying decimals, and I have heard the complaints, so I decided to tell them the secret. We will be dividing decimals next week. It was not taken lightly. There is nothing they hate more than multiplying than dividing. I cannot wait for fractions.

So much fun is going on in Science!

COUNSELOR'S CORNER - MRS. ESTES
My main goal in this project was to start the year off with promoting positivity. So often kids are down on themselves as well as us as adults. I'm focusing on trying to create a positive culture this year in my lessons. So, this mural was my attempt to help start building this in a fun way and have the kids look at themselves in a positive light. I hope you all enjoy it.
