Trussville City Schools Hosts Leadership Trussville for Education Day
Trussville City Schools was honored to host members of Leadership Trussville for their annual Education Day, providing participants with an inside look at teaching, learning, and student opportunities across the district.
The group kicked off the morning at Cahaba Elementary, where they learned about the rich history of the campus and visited classrooms to see learning in action.
Next stop was Hewitt-Trussville Middle School, where participants jumped right into the fun with the HTMS Drum Circle, enjoyed a performance from the Honors Band, heard from administrators and counseling team on implementation of their Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP), and got a look at the incredible talent in the theatre program.
At Hewitt-Trussville High School, the Culinary Academy students prepared a delicious lunch for the group and they enjoyed pre-lunch entertainment from the HTHS Chamber Choir. Leaders also visited classrooms, heard from HTHS student author Marlo Lolley, and got a sneak peek at the exciting progress on the new C-Wing addition.
The day wrapped up back at the Trussville Board of Education with a spirited round of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” featuring Magnolia Elementary 5th graders, followed by a wonderful performance from Paine Elementary students from their upcoming production of Aladdin Jr.
Thank you to Leadership Trussville for spending the day learning more about our schools, our students, and the incredible work happening across Trussville City Schools!
HTMS Choir Performs at UAB Honor Choir Concert
On Tuesday, March 2nd, the Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Choirs had 86 choir students participate in the UAB Honor Choir. They were also asked to perform before the Honor Choir Concert. The 6th Grade Beginning Girls Choir performed "Dona Nobis Pacem" arranged by Julie Wheeler and the 7th & 8th Grade Honors Choir performed "Lux Aeterna" by Christi Jones. Both groups did an outstanding job!
Election Day in Third Grade at Paine Elementary
To kick off their new reading unit on government, Paine Elementary’s third grade students participated in a Class President election.
Students who chose to run for office created campaign posters, developed a proposed class law, and delivered speeches to share their ideas with classmates. After a preliminary vote last Friday, students returned to the polls today for the final election.
This hands-on experience helped bring the study of government to life while giving students the opportunity to practice public speaking, decision-making, and responsible citizenship.
Congratulations to Mrs. Serena & the Magnolia Elementary Science Olympiad Team
Cahaba's Jumping for a Great Cause!
Our Kids Heart Challenge reached an exciting finale last week with our Family Jump Day! After weeks of fundraising and learning about heart health, students welcomed parents into the gym to join their PE classes. The energy was incredible as families jumped rope together, proving that staying active is a team effort.
This event was a fantastic way to celebrate our community’s hard work and generosity. By bringing families into the gym, we turned a school lesson into a healthy habit for the whole household. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s challenge a "heart-felt" success!
Paine Elementary Shines at the Alabama Science Olympiad
Paine Elementary’s Science Olympiad team proudly represented the school at the Alabama State Science Olympiad and earned an impressive second-place overall finish.
Students prepared for a variety of STEM challenges that required critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. Their dedication and perseverance were evident throughout the competition.
A special thank you to science teacher and coach Mrs. Butterfield for her leadership and support in preparing the team. Paine Elementary is proud of these students and their outstanding accomplishment.
