An inspirational morning!

What do you get when you have a committed group of volunteers, a welcoming Jewish Day School, and motivated educators across our sunny region? JEDcamp South Florida!

Just about 40 educators from across 3 counties in the South Florida area gave up their Sunday morning in the hopes of being inspired by other educators with similar goals. Whether you are a techie teacher or just passionate about teaching, there was something to learn and share at JEDcamp South Florida this past Sunday.

The JEDcamp phenomena, based on edcamps, began in our area last year, and we were all proud to be able to continue the learning with our 2nd event. It’s an informal opportunity for Jewish Educators to gather and discuss what they do and how to do it better. JEDcamp SoFl is a morning worth of valuable interaction and learning with your professional peers from Jewish schools all over South Florida and beyond. This year, the David Posnack Jewish Day School graciously hosted JEDcamp South Florida. Their facility was just right and brunch was even better!

JEDcamp focused on conversation and participation. At the beginning of the event, the session board began to be filled up with educators who wanted to discuss issues facing their schools and classrooms as well as ideas to inspire others. Examples of our session titles included:

How to start small and build technology into your classroom?

What methods of technology can we use to teach independent problem solving and analytical thinking?

Creating iTextbooks for Judaic Studies

Achieving Assessment Data Literacy

Teaching programming in the Classroom - A Student’s Perspective

The Accidental Blogger

Tech for non-techies

Presentations Beyond Powerpoint

Is Technology the Goals?

In addition to Virtual Learning Labs from SimpleK12 and presentations by Nearpod.
