Finding Themes

Students in Coach Karg's ELA class are reading the novel, The Running Dream. Students were working together to find evidence showing a character's emotion and then created statements on how that evidence related to a theme in the novel.

Grade Check

We have made it to our first grade check, and we only have two more weeks until the first Nine Weeks is complete! 7th and 8th graders must be passing to participate in UIL sports, so the coaches have been doing a good job of keeping up with their athletes and making sure they're taking care of their business. Here is the UIL Grade Check calendar for the year which shows you when students can lose or regain their eligibility. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Spectator Guidelines - Important Reminders for Tonight

Homecoming is tonight, so here is a reminder for expectations tonight. We want everyone to have fun, be safe and not get themselves into trouble!

In a continuing effort to assure the safety and enjoyment of all athletes and spectators, the following procedures will be enforced during all Lago Vista ISD home athletic events:

  1. Outside food and drinks are prohibited.
  2. There is no re-entry after exiting the event.
  3. All students 5th grade and younger must be accompanied by an adult guardian in order to attend home games. The students must remain under the supervision of that guardian while at the event.
  4. Standing, loitering or horseplay under and around the stands, concession stands, or any other area is prohibited. There is absolutely no standing allowed by the rails and walkways in the stands. Repeat offenders will be required to leave the event and campus.
  5. Revealing, provocative and/or inappropriate dress will not be allowed, nor will inappropriate behaviors or foul language. Repeat offenders will be required to leave the event and campus.
  6. Once inside the event, middle school and high school students with a student ticket will be allowed to sit in the designated student area on the home side. Students are allowed to sit in the reserved or general admission sections only if they are under the supervision of an adult guardian.
  7. Spectators wanting to sit in reserved seating must purchase a ticket for the reserved section.
  8. The use of alcohol, controlled substances, tobacco, and electronic cigarettes are prohibited on school premises.
  9. Only pre-approved individuals will be allowed access to the sidelines and track before and during football games.
  10. Spectators may not enter the field area or cross to the visiting team side.
  11. Everyone is expected to abide by the UIL’s expectations of proper sportsmanship. Failure to do so may result in being removed from the event and campus.

Additional spectator conduct guidelines and enforcement actions may be found here: https://tinyurl.com/LVISDspectatorguidelines

Lago Vista ISD appreciates everyone’s cooperation and support as we work to keep a safe and enjoyable environment at Viking athletic events.

Volleyball Runs With Salado

The 7B team faced a tough loss against Salado with set scores of 17-25 and 11-25. Salado’s powerful serve proved challenging to receive, but our defense made key adjustments throughout the match. Alexis Duty’s aggressive play at the net was a standout effort. Serving points were contributed by: Lili Villarreal (4) Charli Hartley (4) Kylie Smith (3) Sadie Smith (3) Cadence Kallina (2) Emma Byrd (3). Join us next Monday for our home game—let’s bring the energy!

Coming Soon...

8B

The 8B team faced a tough loss with set scores of 4-25 and 9-25. Salado went on an early serving run, and despite our adjustments, we struggled to get a consistent pass up to target. Gracyn Koncak and Aubrey Alves made valuable defensive efforts throughout the match. Cora Larkin and Aria Gallagher played tall and ready to attack at the net. Serving points this week went to Aubrey Alves, who delivered an impressive float serve that caught Salado by surprise. Join us next Monday for our home game—let’s support our Lady Vikings!

8A

The Lady Vikings traveled north to take on the Lady Eagles of Salado this past Monday evening for their 5th district match of the season and 4th on the road. Needless to say the girls are looking forward to a long slate of home games in the next few weeks. Monday’s match was the toughest match of the district season thus far for the Lady Vikings because Salado won district last year and they're in strong form once again. Going in, our girls put extra focus on their own game, setting goals for what they wanted to accomplish in the night's match. By staying focused on their goals of “finding offense/getting to a swing” , “good game communication”, and “pushing 3 points” in service the girls managed to compete very well with the Lady Eagles. Early on the Lady Vikings created a 4 point advantage behind aggressive serving from Danni Tristan, and great in system and out of system offense with good attacks from Evelyn Brown, Scarlett Wright, and Guilana Silich. The girls hung close with Salado for most of the first set, but the Eagles got away and the Vikings lost the first set 25-18. The 2nd set flip flopped the first as the Eagles created an early and the Vikings would fight back to even. Unfortunately Viking momentum was stopped and the same thing happened in the first set as Salado was able to string some big points together late winning the 2nd set and match 25-17. Eva Navarro was outstanding in the match in the libero position digging everything as well as providing solid communication throughout. Ashlynn Evans stunned the Eagle attack with an outstanding block in the second set that went straight down for a point. The girls made several diving plays, showed great hustle in effort in defeat to the Eagles. Despite losing the match, the girls showed improvement and growth which they hope to continue in their match at home Monday night vs Lampasas.

Football Splits With Eagles

The Lago Vista Middle School Vikings hit the road to Salado on Thursday night to take on the Eagles in a tough two-game slate.

Super Team
The evening opened with the Super Team matchup, where the Vikings faced a relentless Salado squad. Despite battling hard and showing noticeable improvement on defense, the Vikings couldn’t slow the Eagles’ attack, falling 36–0. Coaches praised the team’s effort and highlighted the defensive strides that will serve them well as the season continues.

8th Grade
The 8th grade game turned into a defensive showdown from the opening kick. A year removed from a lopsided loss to Salado, the Vikings proved they were ready for a fight, going toe-to-toe with the Eagles before ultimately dropping a narrow 14–8 decision. Quarterback Kooper Kudrna provided the spark for Lago Vista, powering into the end zone for both the touchdown and the two-point conversion. The Eagles broke a late tie with a fourth-quarter score, and despite a determined final drive, the Vikings ran out of time.

The Vikings return home next Thursday to host the Jarrell Cougars at Lago Vista High School, with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m. for the Super Team and 6:30 p.m. for the 8th grade squad.
