St Anthony's School News

Week 5 - Thursday 7th November 2024
Principal's Message
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the moment when World War 1 hostilities ceased on the Western Front, has become universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This first modern world conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. The allied nations chose this day and time for the commemoration of their war dead. In the modern era, we remember all those who fought in this and subsequent wars and conflict zones that we might live in freedom.
Please join us next Monday at 8.40am as we gather to remember those who died or suffered for Australia's cause in all wars and armed conflicts.

2025 BOOK LISTS
For 2025 and beyond, the book lists will be bulk ordered by the school. The bulk order takes pressure off you, the parents, having to complete the order and pay for it this year as you head into the Christmas season. It also allows the school to buy in bulk with a delivery date before the commencement of the new school year. This means parents have one less thing to worry about at the start of the new school year and teachers are able to unpack the bulk order and begin teaching on the first day of the year, making the first day of the new school year less hectic.
In arranging a bulk order, we have been able to keep book list costs the same as for 2024 prices - $50 for Kindy and $100 for Pre-Primary to Year 6. Costs will be added to the Amenities fee you receive in your fees account for 2025.
2025 SCHOOL UNIFORM
Please remember that the phase in period for the new school uniform finishes at the end of 2024. All children will be required to be dressed in the new uniform from the start of the 2025 school year. This term the uniform shop is open on Friday mornings. Please make an appointment if you require time to fit your child for the new uniform.
Old uniforms in reasonable condition can be handed into the uniform shop where they will be donated to charities working with communities in Africa.

We would like to remind families that St Anthony's is an allergy aware school. Therefore, for the health and safety of children and staff with allergies, peanut butter, Nutella, nuts and muesli bars containing nuts are not to be included in your child’s lunch.

Sun Safe Procedure 🌞
As we head into summer, it’s crucial for our students to practice sun safety both at school and at home. We have updated our Sun Smart procedure to ensure everyone stays protected from harmful UV rays. You can find the detailed procedure on our school website by clicking on the button below. Please take a moment to review it and discuss sun safety with your children. Let’s work together to keep our students safe and healthy this summer!
Stay sun smart and enjoy the sunshine responsibly!
Vision Statement
St Anthony's School community works collaboratively to teach and live the values of Christ. While respecting tradition, and to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society, it strives to educate our children to their full potential.
School Code of Conduct
A reminder that every member of the St Anthony’s School community must behave in the manner described in our Code of Conduct.
Our Code is like the 40km/h speed limit outside our school in the mornings and afternoons. It defines behaviours that keep our students safe: at school, and elsewhere. Children and young people surrounded by adult and peer behaviours as outlined in the Code are more likely to recognise and choose healthy relationships for themselves.
Conduct Statements
- You act safely and competently.
- You give priority to students’ safety and well-being in all your behaviour and decision making.
- You act in accordance with the values of the Gospel as defined in the Code of Ethical Conduct.
- You conduct yourself in accordance with laws, agreements, policies and standards relevant to your relationship with the school community.
- You respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of each member of the school community.
- You treat personal information about members of the school community as private and confidential.
- You give impartial, honest and accurate information about the education, safety and well-being of students.
- You support all members of the school community in making informed decisions about students.
- You promote and preserve the trust and privilege inherent in your relationship with all members of the school community.
- You maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.
- You act reflectively and ethically.
- You allow students to have a voice in their education, safety and well-being
The Code describes the minimum requirements expected of all members of our community and that all in our community conduct themselves personally and professionally in a way that maintains public trust and confidence in our school and the Church. While mandatory language such as ‘must’, ‘shall’ and ‘will’ is not used throughout the Code, there is a presumption the conduct described is mandatory and therefore not optional.

City of Wanneroo
Dear Parents and Guardians
The City of Wanneroo is reaching out to ask for your help in making our roads safer for students in the City of Wanneroo. Your valuable feedback is crucial to our efforts to improve road safety and promote walking and cycling to school in your local area.
We're conducting a survey to better understand the challenges and find solutions to create safer environments for our children to get to school.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey below.
The survey asks the name of the student, but if you prefer not to share this information, simply enter "N/A" in that field.
Your input will help us create safer routes for our students. The survey will be open from 4th November to 1st December.
Thank you for your time and support.
