WLWV Community Update

FlashAlert is the system that we use to notify you of school closures, delays, and other similar events. The system is routinely pruned of untouched accounts so even if you had previously subscribed, you should verify your subscriptions at https://www.flashalert.net/login.html. Please note that this is not a West Linn-Wilsonville system and we can provide only limited help.

Families should consider getting the free FlashAlert Messenger app from the Apple AppStore or Google PlayStore. Announcements will also be displayed on the local TV channels. During an event, we will also post an announcement on district and school website homepages.

As a reminder, the district will only inform families in the event that a school closure or delay is being implemented. We will not send notification if school is operating as usual. Families can check their school or district website to learn about operating status in the event of inclement weather.

Weather updates will also be posted on the district's Facebook and Twitter pages in the event of a school closure or delay.

The West Linn High School Unified Basketball Team celebrated its senior class during their final game of the season on Thursday, Feb. 24. Unified athletes have competed against several area teams this season, playing alongside partner athletes. Seniors were recognized prior to the game against Forest Grove.

All West Linn-Wilsonville schools are now accepting 2022-23 school year registration for new students. Registration is for students entering grades K-12 and who are new to the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. Preschool registration will also open on a limited basis.

Prospective students and families can learn about school options and complete their online registration on the district website.

Capital Construction Projects continue across the district with more construction work planned this summer as part of the 2019 Capital Bond. Learn about major bond projects, construction timelines, quarterly reports, and more by visiting the bond website.

Construction will take place at several school sites during the summer.

Community members are also encouraged to sign up for project updates by signing up for Capital Bond Project ListServs.

The West Linn-Wilsonville School District was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020.

Awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, the ward was given based on review by an impartial panel. The Government Finance Officers Association determined the district's annual financial report to have met the high standards of the program, demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story while motivating potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

El Distrito Escolar de West Linn-Wilsonville recibió el Certificado de Logro por Excelencia en Informes Financieros por su informe financiero anual integral para el año fiscal que finalizó el 30 de junio de 2020.

Otorgado por la Asociación de Oficiales de Finanzas Gubernamentales de los Estados Unidos y Canadá, el pupilo se otorgó en base a la revisión de un panel imparcial. La Asociación de Oficiales de Finanzas del Gobierno determinó que el informe financiero anual del distrito cumplió con los altos estándares del programa, demostrando un "espíritu de divulgación total" constructivo para comunicar claramente su historia financiera y motivar a los usuarios potenciales y grupos de usuarios a leer el informe.

On Thursday, Feb. 24, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) made an announcement lifting the indoor mask mandate for all indoor spaces including K12 schools, effective March 19, 2022 based on current modeling from Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) that indicates hospitalizations will fall below 400 or fewer Oregonians per day by March 19. With this announcement, the Oregon Department of Education will update the language about indoor face masks in the Ready Schools, Safe Learners Resiliency Framework (RSSL).

WLWV: Masks Strongly Advised But Not Required After March 19, 2022

The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board voted in July to follow the RSSL guidance for the 2021-2022 school year. This means that wearing masks will be strongly advised but not required in West Linn-Wilsonville schools after March 19. State officials continue to strongly recommend universal masking in K-12 settings because these settings bring together vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, as well as individuals who are at higher risk for severe COVID-19 illness.

The district will continue to monitor updates from Clackamas County Health as we near March 19 and will provide more information for families as that date approaches.

El Consejo Ejecutivo Escolar votó en julio para seguir las normas de RSSL para el año escolar 2021-2022. Esto significa que el usar cubiertas faciales será altamente recomendable pero no requerida en las escuelas de West Linn-Wilsonville después del 19 de marzo. Las autoridades oficiales del estado continúan altamente recomendando el uso de cubiertas faciales de manera universal en los ambientes de K-12, porque estos espacios reúnen individuos que están vacunados y/o no vacunados, así como individuos que están en un alto riesgo de un COVID-19 severo.
