St Anthony of Padua Celebration

Last Sunday’s parish celebration of the Feast of St Anthony was a wonderful expression of the devotion we have to this saint. It was fantastic to see so many school children and their families from St Anthony’s and Mater Dei attend the parade and visit the stalls inside the school grounds.

Family Night

Thank you to all the parents and extended family members who came along last night for a few minutes to view all the wonderful work your children have been doing and giving them the opportunity to talk to you about what they have been learning this semester.

Thanks also to the amazing staff we are blessed to have here at St Anthony’s. The work the children are doing daily in class with their teachers and education assistants was on display for you all to view and comment on. Thanks also to the staff for staying behind at the end of a long day to speak with parents and answer questions about the work their child has done.

Thanks also to the P&F members who organised and staffed the sausage sizzle to keep you fed on a chilly night.

End of Term 2

A reminder that Term 2 finishes on Friday, 30th June. Students and staff return for Term 3 on Monday, 17th July. Swimming lessons commence on Wednesday, 19th July.

The Fathering Project

Recently it was International Men’s Health week, where we raise awareness about the importance of men looking after their general health, mental health and overall wellbeing.

The Fathering Project have a podcast by Dr Jason Frishman that discusses fatherhood, masculinity and the importance of mateship amongst men, and especially fathers which might be useful to share with the men and dads in your school community.

For all the dads in our community – it is worth listening to!

NAIDOC Week NAIDOC Week

This year’s theme is For Our Elders

We are celebrating NAIDOC Week in the last two weeks of Term 2, commencing with a smoking ceremony at Monday’s assembly this week.

Across every generation, our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families.

They are cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and our loved ones.

Our loved ones who pick us up in our low moments and celebrate us in our high ones. Who cook us a feed to comfort us and pull us into line, when we need them to.

They guide our generations and pave the way for us to take the paths we can take today. Guidance, not only through generations of advocacy and activism, but in everyday life and how to place ourselves in the world.

We draw strength from their knowledge and experience, in everything from land management, cultural knowledge to justice and human rights. Across multiple sectors like health, education, the arts, politics and everything in between, they have set the many courses we follow.

The struggles of our Elders help to move us forward today. The equality we continue to fight for is found in their fight. Their tenacity and strength has carried the survival of our people.

It is their influence and through their learnings that we must ensure that when it comes to future decision making for our people, there is nothing about us - without us.

We pay our respects to the Elders we’ve lost and to those who continue fighting for us across all our Nations and we pay homage to them.

In 2023, how will you celebrate
For Our Elders?

Report Changes Report Changes

As we approach the student report season, our dedicated teachers have been busy preparing to provide you with comprehensive insights into your child's academic journey. This year, there are a few changes to the reports. The report for Semester 1 will now be referred to as the 'Mid-Year Report,' while the report for Semester 2 will be called the 'End of Year Report.' Additionally, to enhance clarity and alignment, we will not include descriptors in the reports. Instead, we will utilise the achievement standards from SCSA for a comprehensive evaluation of your child's progress. This change ensures consistency and a better understanding of the assessment criteria.

Please see below for some further information regarding reports:

Pre-Primary News Pre-Primary News

Wow! What a busy term we have had in Pre-Primary. We have learnt about the past and how stories get passed down through the generations. We call this Oral History. We were so excited to have Derek Nannup share Aboriginal Dreaming Stories with us and show us some objects from his culture. We also visited the Wanneroo Museum and learnt all about items from the past, such as toys, communication, cooking and machinery.

In Religion, we have learnt how Jesus used His words and actions to show love to others and God sent the Holy Spirit to help us to follow the example of Jesus. We also celebrated St Anthony, who was such a special person, even the fish listened to him preach!

Playgroup Playgroup

Come and enjoy the fun at St Anthony's Playgroup at St Anthony's School Wanneroo!

Our aim at St Anthony’s Playgroup is to help parents and children have fun together in a space where they can relax, form connections and let their child build their curiosity. By participating in new experiences, children will develop social skills and foster an enjoyment of learning more about their world.

St Anthony’s Playgroup is provided at no cost to families and by St Anthony’s School Wanneroo to give back to our local community. Children are welcome to bring a healthy snack to eat at the end of the session.
