15th Annual PE Easter Egg Hunt
Dear Parents,
Once again it is time for our annual PE Easter Egg Hunt for Kindergarten and 1st grade students. It will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. on the Endeavor soccer field.
Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, visitors are still not allowed on campus, so parents may not attend. I am asking classroom teachers to take pictures of their students so they may send you memories of this fun event.
We ask that anyone who can, please help us provide eggs. We hope for each student to be able to find at least 20 eggs. We can only do this with your help. Please send ONLY Pre-packaged eggs! Again, with these restrictions, we are not allowed to take any that have been filled at home. These can be filled with candy, small toys, stickers, etc.
Also, your child will need to bring an Easter basket, bag, pillowcase, or something that can hold their eggs. The eggs are theirs to keep and take home.
The Easter Bunny will be here to help and take class pictures after the hunt.
Thank you for your help.
Coach Randolph
Picture Day
I know that not everyone agrees with my decision to go ahead with group pictures, wearing masks. However, after considering all of our options, I just decided it is how we have seen each other all year and even though parents won't recognize everyone, the students know their friends this way this year. Please support us in our decision and make it fun! These will be a part of our yearbook this year.
Spring Pictures will take place on March 22nd. These will not make it into the yearbook, however it will give parents an opportunity to have a picture of their child during this year. Masks will not be required since they are individual. Precautions will be taken and the photographer will have on a mask and keep their distance.
So what if I wasn't happy with the fall picture that will be in the yearbook? What if my student was virtual and won't have random pictures of them taken to be in the yearbook? What if...
Any virtual student who wants to take random pics of their school year or any parent who was not happy with a fall picture or for whatever other reason, you want to send in pics of your child to include in the collage pages of the yearbook, we welcome these and will use all that we can. Our goal is to ensure that every child is pictured somewhere in the yearbook.
Pictures may be emailed to our yearbook sponsor, Mrs. Allen at mallen@mcssk12.org.
PTA News
Endeavor Teachers are FILLING THE GAPS!
We give benchmark testing 3 times a year, to all Endeavor students. If a student is not hitting their benchmarks, we alert parents and we begin working to fill the gaps. We will be looking at this data carefully, to ensure that ALL students are making progress. Students in grades K-3 are now also apart of the Alabama Literacy Act, where a plan is written and shared with the parent to show you how we plan to fill these gaps. We are reviewing these often to ensure all Endeavor students are reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
You may have also heard about federal funding being sent to school districts to fill the gaps. Madison County has been using this money in many different ways. I wanted to share a couple of these with you today.
First, all students at Endeavor now have access to a Chromebook to use in their classroom each day. Students in grades K-2 were recently given touchscreen Chromebooks. They are using these in their classrooms now! This allowed us to allocate all of the other Chromebooks in the building to grades 3-5, giving us one-to-one access now to technology.
Another way the money is being used is for summer reading camps across the district. Letters, inviting Endeavor students to summer reading camp, will be coming out very soon. This camp will take place June 7-July 1st and will focus on reading skills of those who are still showing deficits at the end of the year. It will be designed to fill in the gaps and get them prepared for the next grade level. The federal funds will allow us to offer transportation, breakfast, and lunch each day to those who attend. We are so excited!!!
On Friday, I received word that I have additional funds that can be used next school year to continue filling the gaps. Mrs. Wright and I began brainstorming ideas on Friday afternoon and we will soon share how this additional funding will be spent. We promise, it will be used to help those that still need a little extra to fill in those last gaps.

School Meals for the rest of the year
ALL schools in the Madison County School System have been approved for a USDA waiver allowing us to provide breakfast and lunch meals for virtual, remote, and traditional learners at no cost to families.
We are approved for the 2020-2021 year. Please continue to complete and submit applications for free and reduced meals as usual so correct statuses will be in place when the waiver ends.
-- This applies to ALL students(full price, reduced, and free) under 18 years old
-- Meals may be picked up at any MCSS school.
-- If you have children in multiple schools, you may pick up all meals at one school. You do not have to travel to each school.
